English vs Russian Subtitle & Audio

I've read that the English subtitles do not cover all the conversations in Russian, and while playing it found this to be true (a lot of talk in for example the stations isn't covered) with an entire conversation with a certain NPC in a certain station not having subtitles,

Has anyone here actually played with the English audio? I couldn't bear to listen to it for more then a few minutes, then switched back. It's just so much more authentic in Russian.

As with the original game, I played English audio first just to get the side conversations.
Some of them are interesting - but yeah, the English audio is horrible. :P

Especially when peopel like Pavlov insult the enemies and say "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥", a few more words, then say the same word again - in Russian the secondt time.

Metro 2033 in English had a lot of talking without subtitles. And people kept saying Russian words as well. Might be the same. Didn't bother me that much though. I liked hearing some Russian too.

I'm secretly hoping that they'll patch in better subtitles. Probably not, but a guy can dream.

Better try with russian language and english subtitles because i noticed that some jokes and funny moments not so fun in english localisation.

That's what I'm currently doing, English subs and Russian audio.

This and 2033 have to be played with russian audio, that's part of the charm of it. Though I have to agree that the english subs are quite lacking.

I wonder if I put off playing for a week or two, maybe we could get a patch with some luck?

It's a pity since every pieces of dialogue has been dubbed in sooo many languages. So the script for all these dialogue in all these languages is there and just have to be added. Since all in this damn good game is about "immersion", I just don't understand why they don't simply copy-paste those script...
It's really annoying, all those games at which they throw sooo many money for doing crappy dubbed localisation, where just the original audio with subs in all languages should be enough ( and way more economic).

Unfortunately some countries have a real preference for certain combinations of audio and subtitles. For example, in Germany they damn near resynchronize everything with German audio instead of German subtitles. The Netherlands are completely different in that we actually prefer subtitles and the original audio. I get why they do it, but for crying out loud, original audio and English subtitles should not be worst off.

I would like to use Russian voice, But it makes some parts in the game... Err longer due to them speaking Russian (Like where Khan wakes you up and when Ulhman showed up, he stand at the door waiting for him to finish, but in the English, he jump right in and say "BLA" so I have to stick with english as for now)

I play with Russian audio and English subtitles (also for 2033) and I can tell you for certain that subtitles aren't as "descriptive" or hilarious as the audio.

NONE of the versions covers all dialogues.

English audio is fine to me.
