Constantly minimizes to taskbar
So, every single time I start the game it minimizes to the taskbar. No matter what I try to do to bring it back up (click, alt tab, windows tab, whatever) it will come up, the audio will play for a second, and then it goes back down. At first I just thought it was an issue with the intro movies because I managed to get through to the main menu, but then I alt tabbed in the game and it wouldn't let me back in. Now I can't get it going again at all.

Anyone else have this problem?

I don't have this problem with anything other than this game.

This happened to me when I forced V-Sync through Nvidia Control Panel. However, I opened up user.cfg in the game directory and found the line "r_vsync off". Once I changed that to "r_vsync on", it seemed to work.

Try it out and see if it helps.

Try fully disabling your anti virus. No need to uninstall. Disable it as you're playing and it should work.

This problem happened to me, it turned out that Metro didn't like having the Magician Software for my Samsung 840 SSD open.. As soon as I closed the program, the game ran fine full screen without minimizing

Dude, I can't thank you enough! I was having this problem with many games, and I was almost blaming my windows install. Looks like that magician software messes up with a lot games.

Again, thank you!

Argh, fark yeah! I was troubleshooting by ending each process one after the other in task manager and finally got to the magician! Haha i spent about 30mins googling but found nothing. Disable magician in startup and it will never happen again :)

Same, here. Closed Magician Software and viola! the game works. First time it's happened to me.

Same here. Freaking Samsung Magician software causes Metro: Last Light and a couple other games to crash or minimize. Thanks for the solution!

That is very strange. I don't have that problem, and Magician is running 24/7 on my machine. Though I have had issues with things like Bing Desktop due its search bar it puts on the desktop. Disabled that and all is well for me.

Did you have Magician actually open to the desktop? Or was it just running in the background, minimized to the tray?
