What, no voices?

I can hear people down the hall talk, I can hear music and sound effects, but if someone talks to me directly or are really close to me, I have to read the subtitles. You lose a lot of the game when you have to read it, it stopps sucking you in and it gets annoying.

My System specs are:

Two Nvidia GeForce GTX 680's (SLI) 4GB DDR3 each
1TB Raid 1 HD
Asus 3D monitor
Intel I7 3770 3.4Ghz quad core processor
Logitech 5.` Surround sound
Windows 7 Professional SP1
Realtek HD Audio
16GB RAM

The game is extremely smooth and fun to play, even with everything under vido cranked all the way up, but the sound is rather annoying. Anyone else running into this and have found a fix?

I can hear voices for people talking to me if I really crank up the sound, but it's quiet and far away. The person who first wakes you up has no voice (unless cranked up), however the person who wants that guy to leave sounds just fine.

The people at the end of the hall are talking just fine, until they address you and then silence... Too weird.

Just for those who are having the same issue and pull this up in a search etc.

Metro: Last Light didn't like my speakers much, but setting them as standard stereo speakers fixed the issue (Apparently Metro: Last Light doesn't like my 5.1 surround much, it would not use the center speaker, causing you not to hear people in front of you, wich means you have to stand sideways to hear the person... weird. Switching to just 2 speaker stereo fixed that) You need to use the system software to make the change, the only settings for sound in the game are volume settings.

i have the same problem with the sound , only stereo is playable atm , no surround for me too

try switch to stereo and then back to surround
