Stuck on railcar(regina) part

I pushed a train into a dead-end. Then i'm supposed to press an activator (something like this[guides.gamepressure.com]) but i don't get the "hand" icon and can't change the tracks.

is the dead end made of wood? Then go for it!

I can't proceed because i need to re-align the rails towards the wooden obstacle (the breakable wooden obstacle).

I can't do that because i can't pull the lever. So i'll just crash into the train again over and over.

is that the part where you have to push the train forward with the car and fight of the monsters that attack you?

Back the railcart back past the junction and then shoot the switch. That should work.

Thanks, backing the railcar up activated the switch again.
