You can get the season pass very cheap now. I wouldn't recommend paying more than half price for the season pass. The DLC's alone are too expensive for what is there.
Like the last DLC. It has 3 full missions. The first will last about half an hour. The second about 20 minutes, and the last you will finish in less than 10 minutes.
The tower pack is terrible. The developer pack is almost as bad as the tower pack.
The first pack is ok, but still isn't nearly up to the quality of the main game.
The last pack is the best. The Pavel mission is decent, and along with the Khan mission, comes close to capturing the magic of the main game.
If you buy the season pass for half price or less, then yes, it's good. If you pay more than that, you will feel robbed.
Quality is much lower than the rest of the game, and there is no real content there in terms of longevity
I never had a problem with the khan mission but I don't deny the game has bugs, but Khans mission is not highlight for me anyway.
Pavels mission is decent. the great library is VERY good. And Personally I Love the Tower Pack. Its been my favorite part of Metro: Last Light and I still find myself firing up Metro LL just for The Tower Pack.
Metro for me is not about shooting things. It's about lack of resources, sneaking around, trying to survive by avoiding combat.
It's not about wave defense nonsense. That's what makes the tower pack the worst "metro" DLC they ever made, followed closely by the developer pack.
But at least the spider lair mission was very good, just way way WAY too short (just like the other good DLC missions).
I did like Khan, Pavel, and the sniper from factions. I didn't like how you couldn't swap weapons in the sniper mission though, and that you failed the mission if you failed stealth or tried to do the mission in any other way
by the way, I do understand what your describing about avoiding combat, I agree that picking your fights is an important element of the Metro games, though they botched that part big time in Metro LL.
Metro 2033 is my favourite game of all time. Last light is my second favourite game of all time.
I know a few people liked the tower pack. A few liked the developer pack. I hated both. They just weren't metro at all. Especially the tower pack.
But it's my opinion.
If you enjoyed them, good for you. That means you didn't feel robbed when you bought them. I paid £13 for the season pass, and felt like it was at least twice as expensive as it should have been, considering I got less than 2 hours entertainment out of the whole lot of DLC.
So I am glad you liked them. But just don't expect me to change my mind about them, because I thought they were terrible
I wish they had added these missions into the context of the game, I would have much prefered them over the boss battles. Unfortunately, The closest thing in the campaign I can compare it too is the end of "Bandits" chapter when you ring the Dinner Bell and wait for the guy on the boat to save you. The tower pack battles are lengthier and more dynamic, and you usually have fun even if you lose.
I would have preferred proper missions, that captured what made metro great. Like Pavel mission, which was pretty good, or the first half of Khan (until you becamse Khan I mean).
Tower defense just doesn't capture the great mechanics of the metro games, like hiding in the dark, taking out enemy silently with throwing knives, and getting through whole sections without firing a shot, leaving every enemy alive.
Do you bother to upgrade weapons and buy ammo when you play?
But I never, and I mean NEVER buy ammo at all. I just never need it.
Not counting the times when you have to fight, I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times I got into a firefight.
Same with the first game as well, except I did do a bit more fighting in that, due to the stealth being so poorly designed (all AI knowing exactly where you are at all times if you don't kill someone in one hit with a throwing knife or silenced weapon)
