Game crashes at the same chapter each time

Everytime the chapter "Bandits" starts the game crashes and black screens, forcing me to restart my pc.

I've tried verifying game files, uninstalling and reinstalling, updating my drivers, running a different FOV, running a different resolution than native, all settings on all graphics, and nothing works

try going into the user.cfg and change to using either dx9, or dx10. Then restart the chapter over from the main menu or restart the previous chapter and see if it crashes again, with all this including having PhysX off and SSAA off/low.

r_api 0, 1 or 2
2 =dx11 1=dx10 0=dx9

Unfortunately this is a very common and aged issue that hasn't been addressed by the devs since release, is even present in REDUX some say. In most cases its a chance of luck just by restarting over and over again because lots of suggestions don't work or haven't worked.

Advice is 1 (which is DX10) which works fine for me, i am now in Khan level with no crashes so far. The only crash i did have was at the end of Bandits (and not at the very beginning like some of you).

My game freezed at the start of the level when I listen to chat and got the karma notification. Next time, I sprinted forward to the tunnel ahead and the game did not crash anymore.
