How do i change my FOV?
I tried to follow everyone's advice that I saw.
I went to the local 4A Games MetroLL files and the config file wasn't there...it was in the steamapp directory.
The user.cfg file itself didn't have the "r_base_fov" command, so I wrote it in...and it doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work.
I copied the config file into the local 4A Games MetroLL files just to check and it didn't work as well.
Please ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ help me, because i'm too inept to solve the issue myself.

You need to tweak user.cfg file as you did. Search for the "fov" line. In my file it is r_base_fov 65. I set the value to 65. but you can input whatever value you like.

yeah, i'm gonna check that tomorrow. if the value of 90 wasn't too high for it to work though then i will be really pissed.
also, did your config file have had the "r_base_fov" command by default (no matter it's value) or did you too had to write it in yourself?
just curious.

This game uses vFov, not hFoV. What you think of as "90" won't work here.

90 hFov stands for 121 degrees in vFov. Are you saying that the game won't handle a value that large?
welp, set the value to 65, doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work. amazing.
16:9 = r_base_fov: 59 vertical FOV = 90 horizontal FOV

id suggest not touching this
the game is crashing all over
I had mine just at 50, dx9
I cant ever pass 4 missions all of which are talking
these bugs exist on redux as well as all other metro games
the cause is not known but it IS tied into the moral points during npc chats
its hell

you do know there are 2 cfgs right?
one is for DEFAULT and is in steam apps dir

THIS IS NOT YOUR CONFIG
%LOCALAPPDATA%
type it in the win search and press enter

not local, not roaming
%LOCALAPPDATA%

find 4agames directory *sort by last accessed or date modified and it will be almost top
open 4Agames dir
open odd number>metroLL
there is YOUR in game config

TLDR?

steam apps cfg is for when you click DEFAULT in the menu
this is not the config you are using while playing the game at all, changing things in this file wont help

please go to
%localappdata% 4agames metroLL and its there edit that one
not the steam apps folder cfg

I accept hugs btw even virtal
ps I had my fov at 90 it was just perfect for me.
but the game crashes even stock which is terrible fov

hope this helps

The game isn't designed to use 120 hFoV, you will have clipping. But yes, use the correct file: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Metro:_Last_Light#Configuration_file.28s.29_location

Disable extra gameworks features to see if it helps with crashing.

120 eek
90 is bad you can see what devs dont wantcha too
some cases you have no connecting bones just arms and chestplate
no neck etc
stick arms sometimes not drawn in
etc

fuun times
60-70 is fine vs the pos 40/50.2 stock

these games suck coding wise, and even in redux they fixed nothing
in fact they removed A LOT which is why all redux are getting worse reviews than the originals

the problem is the game always overwrites it
The Nothing Man Aug 5, 2024 @ 10:35am
yeah due to the menu

for cfg file, make it read only
try that?
my game didnt overwrite anything but, I do know of this
depends on the os as well
win 11?
yeah

try.. setting it read only, but that location, shouldnt over write
the other will
