Sprint Broken?

I have recently come back to WolfQuest 2.7 version and found that my Shift key is no longer working to make my wolf sprint. I have tried every other key on my board and nothing will work with sprint, and I do not see it as in option in the "input" console before the game launches. I have not changed my keyboard, both left and right Shift keys are not broken (as they work in other games) and I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as briefly looking through the actual game files in the folder and seeing if there's a keybinding option that I can change manually, to which there is not - it used to work when I played a few months back, I do not understand why it isn't now. It does work for Sprint in the Anniversary Edition, however. But I want it to work for 2.7. What can I do?

Sprinting wasn't added until Anniversary Edition. Shift in 2.7 is the default keybind for stalking (I think?) and running is toggled by pressing Q.

There is also no way to change it to anything else in 2.7, this version is staying just as is for now.

Personally, this is the reason why I no longer play WolfQuest 2.7 and now only play the Anniversary Edition, because WolfQuest AE has much less confusing and more player friendly controls that have a less steep learning curve in my opinion. The button to toggle running is the Q key in 2.7 and there is no auto run or sprinting, not to mention that the camera controls in 2.7 feel far more clunky. Going back to 2.7 from Anniversary Edition, not to mention from other games that have a completely different control set, can be quite jarring, which is why I haven't gone back to play the 2.7 version in so long.

Oooh right, thank you for all your responses, I genuinely thought I was going crazy, haha. I swear I remember being able to sprint before? I didn't remember just doing W and running at the normal speed. Yeahh I like 2.7 for the multiplayer and the servers, it's good to be hunting with others. I hope AE can get that up and going pretty quick. I'll be honest I prefer the graphic look of 2.7, it's simple and nice. AE is fantastic for detail and design, and I'm not sure if it's my graphics or not but I feel it looks very harsh with all the grass and such, haha. Oh well.
