Anyone else feel a bit disappointed after finishing the last mission? the game was super fun and all the missions were enjoyable but once you're done it's either keep replaying the last mission or start again with no powers. I was kind of hoping for a sort of free roam where you could continuously fight aliens.

If this is a mode and I just haven't found it please tell me

There's no free-roam built into the game. There is the option of looking up the "be the villain" or "freeroam" mods though - the game has mod support and it gives you some neat options.

Yeah I've got a couple mods installed and they're pretty fun, it'd just be nice to be able to play the base game how it's played throughout the story, with different cities being attacked by aliens instead of you being the one attacking them like in the freeroam mods

More options added into the base game would definitely be nice, yeah. Free-roam random (or semi-random) event mode. Free-roam no city lifebar mode like some of the mods do. Plenty of room for other options too.

Maybe some expanded options for exploring the universe. Maybe have alien fleets roaming around to destroy, or alien planets to conquer. Hell, even the ability to destroy planets or make a star go supernova. Use telekinesis to fling an asteroid at a planet and see what happens.
