What more do you want? Are you insane? Most peeps couldn't beat the sots1 ai on easy...
In sots2, they got focused too much on the graphics and this is why they couldn't deliver the game. Which was delivered over a year late and still with some bugs and a ridiculously easy ai.
It is a shame tought because it is a rough gem who needs some polishing and it would become a real master piece. Just like they did in sots1 but then they controlled their destiny a lot more and didn't give everything away to a publisher with lots of money.
It's not easy making a game with a dev team when it starts to get big. Cost overruns hapens fast and the game needs to be out there to bring some money. Too bad steam greenlight and early access wasn't a thing when this happened as they could have done it this way.
I have been pushing that topic on Shallow Space's forum a little in the hopes that as the dev is deciding which way to take the game, that some strong inspiration for the aspects of the game he doesn't have fleshed out yet...that SotS might be a good place to look.
I kind of consider it a chance at a new SotS experience...even though nothing is official and it's all a pipe dream at the moment. Maybe a few more of you could pipe in and show your interest too. Not sure if it'll make a difference or not, but worth getting out there...
And yes @Itharus, people are still whining about this game, you must know how well received SOTS1 was and thus should be able to understand why people are still upset about this game, especially since there is nothing to compare with it even to this day (Endless space 2 looks quite promising, but again, I'm worried about the focus on aesthetics)
Not to mention the reputation of a well thought of developer ruined, certainly affecting any future releases - who's going to buy another Kerberos game after this??
all i wanted was better grafic.. like sots 2
and maybe an solar system..
maybe resources.. so ya get strategic systems to hold for special resources..
what did i get?
an never finished games
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fleet system that changed WHOLe gemrplay from sots 1.... think noone wanted that
my favorite liir species is now bound to an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ critter pack ....
an tactical combat system where ships take way to many hits to get destroyed...
and tactical system where all the nice agile movement of sots 1 is lost to an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring standoff
still ♥♥♥♥ ship design.. in an 360° space what idiot puts all main weapons ontop of the ship like
old battleships back at earth oceans
i never had funn with sots 2 ... abondened it long ago
this fleet system the slow combat and other dumb changes just ruin it for me ...
atm im quite impressed that theres still live in this forum
endless space with there ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cardgame system was the worst ♥♥♥♥ i ever noticed..maybe even worse than sots 2
I had been hoping for a serious discussion on what this game could have been.
Ya you always get a few that can't keep the BS out of it or would rather focus on the drama.
Frankly I think this game has potential yet...I hope that someday, somehow, someway it is released to open source or 3 is developed and released on an 64-bit engine with a smoother development process. :)
They are allowed to release patches for it, but it is Paradox's IP. They just won't get any money from Paradox for development.
