Victoria 2 (v2game.exe)
Every time I start a V2 campaign, it goes to my desktop and says that v2game.exe has stopped working. I have tried verifying game cache files and it still doesn't work. Anybody?

Does it give you any type of error message that you can google? I know that it can have a problem with the original game cache file. If all else fails try uninstalling and reinstalling all of it.

Found this from the forums:
Go to the game folder, and to the maps folder and empty the cache folder you find there.
Then go to the documents\paradox interactive\victoria 2 and delete any cache

Then start up the game 'manually' (not through steam) by double clicking on the v2game.exe file in the game dir. After the cache has been built up properly it now works fine in steam for me.

Tried it, it wasnt in documents. I delete the map folders that was in steam, lauched it manually, and then ran it through steam. Same problem.

I have the same problem.
Someitmes these files may need to be unhidden - also possible is that in some hardware profiles, these become lost (insofar as you can't find them) in something called 'virtual store'. One of the methods for shortcutting to these is to use the steam library for your games. Go to V2, right click and select 'Properties'. Now click the local files tab, and choose 'browse local files'. This SHOULD allow you to see your files, although you might need to go to your file folder settings and select the 'show all files' option. This may also work for some users if the files have been stuck in virtual store, while others may have to use a admin-level account to get access to those files (which will be in another directory, literally called 'Virtual store').

same problem here. I downloaded the game again yesterday on my new laptop, then fired it up today. Kept crashing after I selected a country. Deleting the cache folder from the maps folder didn't work, checking integrity didn't work. What did work though was to install the v1.3 patch! Apparently steam didn't do that automatically. I then deleted the cache folder again for good measure, fird up again and it worked!

hope that helps anybody!

click on start menu, type eventvwr and press enter. Expand windows logs then click application log. there should be an error entry at the time your game crashed. Post that error here and somebody might be able to provide some insight
