Black flags..............

I have black flags overall but some flags like French and argentina is there..
Looked around at paradox forum but dont get it.. I got the same problem at Europa Universalis III. getting pretty angry when im buying the game..

After 3h i made it!!:) when i uppdated the game i simply took ignore insted of reebot.

i installed the game, and when it wanted to uppdated its ask if i want to ignore or reebot. so i took ignore and it workd nice:)

I have the black flags as well, didn't get an option to reboot (and didn't reboot anyways). Any other solutions out there?

I actually found the answer.

The game caches the generated flag files. These are under gdx/flags/flagfiles* (.tga files and .txt files).

Delete *all* of the flagfiles* files here (don't touch the other files, there are a lot here).

From elsewhere on google I saw that disabling desktop composition and running as adminstrator were touted as solutions - these didn't help me, but they were on when I ran the first time, and had the flags back. The flags stayed without any compatibility settings on, so if these are needed, it's only when re-generating the cached flag files.

I also saw that the game had black flag issues for some people when alt-tabbing out. I think this caused my problem - I clicked on something else while waiting for the game to load the first time, so it effectively 'alt-tabbed' away - perhaps this does something to the memory where the flags are stored.
