[solved] Unable to start game: "The system cannot find the file specified"

When starting the game, I see the intro video, and then I reach the loading screen with a train in the background.

Nearly as soon as the "Initialising Maplogic" phase begins, I get a virtual filesystem exception: "File exception: Exception in: virtualfilesystem.cpp, line: 662. Description: The system cannot find the file specified."

I've followed the "Common Issues and Solutions" instructions, but still have the same issue.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have saame problem, i ran check files and it said it needed one and said it would be downloaded. still crash and same error

The standard solution (99% of forum posts basically) is (sorry for late reply) :
go to Steam / steamapps / common / Victoria II / map / cache and delete the time file, then start the game once with v2game.exe @Victoria II folder.
For some it only works if you clear all the content in the cache folder (not the folder itself!).

Otherwise, check if you have a cache folder @Documents / Paradox Interactive / Victoria II / map and proceed the same.
