I can't trade on the common market.
Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to trade on the common market? I have all the DLC's. The button that allows trade on the common market isn't on my screen at all. Please help.

Ok what is the common market? I'm not familiar with that term.

In the trade menu there is the world market (where goods are bought and sold through out the world) and the common market (where goods are bought and sold within your nation). There's supposed to be a button next to your stock pile that allows you to trade on the common market. My trade menu doesn't have the button.
are you talking about the confirm trade button

No, that is for the world market. Directly to the right of the word Stockpile at the bottom half of the screen there should be a button. It is not there in my game. It is for trading on the common market.
My only question is why do you want to trade on the common market? I would just trade on the world market because it really is not that big of a deal. Also I'm not certain that you can. Also what do you want to trade for?

If you allow trade on the common market then your citizens can purchase goods from your stockpile.
oh I see well I've never had to do that before is it a pressing issue?

I think so. I'm very new to this game and learned of this issue from the tutorials and reading the manual. It seems that if your nation has a need of a certain good (either to provide a life need or materials for a factory), and you have that good stockpiled; you can allow your citizens to buy the good (or any goods) from your stockpile by clicking that button. Does the button appear on your screen because it doesn't appear on mine? If you still don't know what button I'm talking about, check out the trade tutorial in game and/or look at the example pic of the trade window in the manual. Again it will be a button in the trade window on the right side of the stockpile heading towards the bottom of the trade window. If you don't see the button on your screen, you can see it clearly in the example pic in the manual. Thanks for conversing with me on this issue. I'm a micro-managing freak which is what attracted me to this game, but I can't bring myself to start playing this game without getting to the bottom of this.

I believe there was a change in the trade GUI between writing the manual and the current release. I think it was mentioned in one of the release notes, or in the Paradox Forum. IIR what I read correctly, You buy from internal and external sources as needed to fill the stockpile, but sell internally -- but I won't swear to that.

This is my first Paradox 4X and I'm still trying to figure how I did something that seemed to work.
I noticed it to, I think it's something to do with your ruling party's economic ideology since it seems otherwise to come and go randomly. But I know what you are talking about, that "let pops and factories buy from stockpile" button, right?

I also have a problem with this as I can sell to world market but not buy from the world market. Also no tutorial can help me as everyone else's UI is different since I run vanilla & they are running the DLC. I don't have any of the same menu's they are using. I played almost all Paradox games & this one is nearly impossible to figure out despite 40 years of gaming experience. (And I learned how to play Japanese games with no manual & no English translations just by clicking around & memorizing actions). This game has ZERO intuitive UI. One of the worst user friendly UI's I've ever seen. I'm about ready to throw in the towel

The game is pretty much unplayable without the two expansions

You are probably sphered and thus not free, but i don't recall playing without both expansions anymore.

You need the two epxansions. They are not realy optional.
You only get the later patches (features, interface changes, bugfixes etc) with them.

It takes time to get used to the interface and how the game works. Search for threads in this forum for noobs/beginers containing links to the Wiki, guides and threads or ask more specifically.
