The "slavery allowed" issue does mean that people want it to stay legal, correct? I am asking because no matter how liberal my Korea becomes, they remain pro-slavery. It's the number one political issue by a country mile! I just don't get it. Is it a bug or something?

Also, what happens to the slaves if freed? Do they become farmers or some other manual labor profession?

I cant answer your first question as liberals are supposed to want to abolish slavery, it might be a problem with the reforms if you haven't westernized yet?
Once slaves are free most become farmers or laborers or factory workers depending on your counties education level, they also start to pay taxes, remember that slaves dont.
