Flashpoint Tension
Anyone know how I can quell or resolve flashpoint tension? I'm playing as Japan with Korea under my rule and I keep getting involved in crises fighting agaonst the liberation Korea. I win the war, but almost as soon as it ends another nation takes up the banner for Korea. Leaves me with no time to fight wars I actually want.

Anyone know the solution? I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, but I can't seem to find it. What causes flashpoint tension? Militancy? Consciousness? Lack of reforms? Do I need to be more trigger-happy with the "suppress movement" button?

Not much you can do. Ally with some superpowers so you can force a white peace in the crisis, release Korea as a puppet or keep fighting. You can also supress korean independent movement for a short term releave. If you switch to the map to conflict-mode (the little bomb bottom right) you can hover over your provinces to see the exact effects. Tensions rise through nationalist movements or national focus (only possible if you are secondary power).

Mergele pretty much nailed it, but there is one thing i can add, it is that your world ranking affects your nations resistance to flashpoint tension buildup, with the top three ranking powers being almost immune to tension. To see the value of resistance yourself (it is rather hidden in the game) use your national focus to cause flashpoint tension on someone then hover your mouse over that on the OUTLINER and the tool-tip will tell you how much flashpoint tension that nation can resist, this value is based on your world ranking, this is why the ottomans and poland/russia are spamming crises alot.

Changing culture.

Ever thought about asking nations to join you, so the crisis won't escalate ?
No friends ?

disclaimer: Take this with a grain of salt. Haven't played VicII for three or four months.

No friends :(

Seriously though, each crisis ends up being a 1 on 1 against me and another superpower - usually Russia or United Kingdom...I guess because it's taking place on a different continent from the other great powers, no one else joins in. I can win the 1 on 1s, but it just wastes about a year or so before I can get white peace, during which time, I get minimal infamy reduction.

Thanks for the responses guys.
