Game will work with ONLY Heart of Darkness: Appears to have A House Divided too

Hey guys, I'll try and explain this as best as I can.

So I recently got Vic 2 and my friend told me to buy the DLC as well. I decided to get Heart of Darkness first for whatever stupid reason and installed it just a few minutes ago. Now here's the thing, I read that you need AHD in order to run HOD, but for some reason it works perfectly fine. 1861 is a start date, there's a Crisis tab, there's newspapers, and the whole game looks completely overhauled.

Now, just to be perfectly clear, I DON'T have A House Divided. YET I can choose the House Divided events in the starting year tabs. So I'm just wondering if I'm the luckiest person ever or if I need to get the DLC before my game bugs out to oblivion.

Some other people also reported that it works without it. Others have issues if they don't own it. I assume it comes down if you have the .dll that comes with AHD by some other game already. Either way, since picking up everything in the collection on sale should be as cheap as vanilla + expansion individually, I'd always suggest just getting that one.

Well see, that's the thing, I have access to AHD as well as HOD. I don't own AHD which is even more confusing to me.

Do you have the game on Mac or bought from GOG ?
If so, then you likely bought the game version that includes both.

....or Steam accidently now installs the whole shebang with Darkness only.
That would be fun and sounds like a glitch.

I don't remember it working or not well with only HoD when i messed up Steam
installation the first few times.

I bought the key from CDkeys, but it only says I have one expansion. So I think it's a Steam glitch.

Out iof curiosity, where does it say that you only got one expansion ?
Have you looked at Properties - DLC ? (of Vic2 in Steam)
There it should list all you got, even if you bought it outside Steam, including visual DLCs etc. Would be realy weird if it mentions only one expansion, even if you got a Victoria Collection or such phrased complete package. Not that it matters to me, but i doubt it would work with the standard HoD expansion only. Ah well...

So apparently CDKeys also sells a "Complete Edition" of Vic2, which i never saw before.
Maybe they messed up and gave you a key for that instead of HeartofDarkness only.
Sounds most likely to me. You lucky bas...one. ;)

Well see that's the thing, CDKeys was out of stock so I just bought HOD. And I checked properties, DLC owned, even double checked the key and I can 100% say with complete confidence I DON'T own AHD. I even played with my friend who owned Vic 2 and our games managed to play online together even while she owns all the DLC.

So yeah, I guess I really am just one lucky SOB.
