Victoria II

Late Game Army
So ive seen a few guides on youtube and reddit and opinions are pretty divided (also i mainly play HPM but would like if you also know about the base game cause i do like to play with a couple other mods) so most people agree that early game you should realistically have 5 front lines and 5 backlines with maybe some slight variation, personally i just go with the basic mentality of 4 guards/infantry (depending on mod), 1 hussar, and 5 artillery, and from there i eventually scale it up. The thing is once tanks and airplanes get added things get very muddled for what ive seen. the one consensous ive seen is that tanks take a lot of resources so all tanks is not viable unless you own like haft the world and even then. but with the limited number of tanks you can resonably field ive seen many different versions like full tank stacks or add 1 tank and remove a front liner and others, and planes are even worse, ive heard so many variations and conflicting details on them it honestly makes my brain hurt. So if i was gonna stick with my late game 60 stack (8 guards, 2 hussars, 10 artillery) with maybe a little variation, what would you guys recommend changing it out for tanks and planes, while i would prefer if you knew both versions that would be great but i especially play with hpm so i would really like your guys help if you can. Thanks again

plane replace horse, offensive stacks replace as much frontline as possible with tanks and no need for engineer in these

You could try replacing engineers with tanks if you don't want to worry about managing offensive versus standard stacks, also logistically simpler in upgrading your army if you do add plane and tank replacements simultaneously, since you're adding and discarding 1 frontline and 1 backline unit

So probably the best would be 2 planes, 10 artillery, and 8 tanks if i get you correctly. Ive just heard that using all tanks just uses too much resources to replace all of my stacks of troops with each 8 tank divisions

Pretty much, except tanks are usually not worth it. Guards/Infantry usually are fine too.

Planes are a back-line unit, not a front-line unit. OP's "2 planes, 10 artillery, and 8 tanks" army doesn't have enough front-line units to cover the back-line. That means you'll have Artillery and Planes fighting on the front-line, which is something you definitely do NOT want. Planes and Artillery get their terrifying strength mainly from their Support stat, which only activates if the unit is in the back line in battle. If Planes and Artillery are in the front line, they're doing a fraction of the damage that they would if they were in the back line. Planes further compound that problem with their low Discipline, which means that Planes take far more organization damage in combat and thus rout far easier than other units.
Taking that into consideration, OP's army composition would actually need to be "2 planes, 8 artillery, and 10 tanks/guards/infantry", and not OP's original "2 planes, 10 artillery, and 8 tanks".

You can check out this guide that my friend and I made that mainly covers the base game: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2537405360
It should answer your concerns about whether to use Armor or not, among other things.

Correct, I missed that. Made even worse that I even know this. My mistake.
