How to annex Austria?
So yeah I know you can siege Austria down to the death and then influence them and form Germany. But this is a cheesy move and it makes the map weird.

I only want to annex Austria which is a rightful German claim. So I fought Austria, forced them to free Hungary, and now they are in my sphare. But this event that I heard about does not trigger.

What is wrong? It has been like 3 years since the war was over and Austria was in my SOP but the event didn't fire :(

Do they hold any other lands besides Austria itself. I've also noticed it only happens to me if Germany is reactionary or fascist

Yeah everything besides Hungary. Does it matter? I saw people saying that only Hungary has to be free

The best trick to get all of Austria is to puppet them before you form Germany (super Germany) be prepared for massive population loss then release the parts you don't want as more puppets

My first start is Prussia Austria kicked my ass I wasn't paying attention and it was all the German states against me and the pope

You're also not at war with anyone? Try waiting a little longer, the event to annex has a MTTH of 12 months so it can take a bit to fire.

Yup in Vanilla it is sufficient that Hungary exist and Austria is in your sphere while you already Germany (and a Great Power and in peace). Like whatamidoing said, it doesn't fire immiadetly but usually within a year.

you can add a free people cb on austria for one of the worthless romanian cores that hungary has and just siege down austria for a year when they drop from gp then add them to your sphere via that war then do three hurrahs, theyll accept every time instantly
