How the heck do you unify Italy?
I am playing as Sardinia, the year is 1853, I have been going fully on Prestige tech and industry tech, but I can't just can't get to a GP position.

I followed advices from the internet and I did pretty much the same as they write but I am stuck on the Secondary Power status :(

I tried to play Sicily, my army was strong and big and my industry and prestige almost got me to GP and then Papal States backed by France attacked me, I was sure that I am unlucky so I tried to restart and they still attacked me.

I have 100+ hours on this game, I can form Germany super easily but for some reason I can't get to form Italy, can someone help me?

do not play two scicly it is much easier to play Sardinia Piedmont

What you want to do is build up your max army size and build up your navy and then justify on Two scicly for humiliate. When you finish your casus bellie dec on him and transport your troops to the island of scicly after you finish seiging scicly bait him to come inot scicly by putting a weak stack and when he attakes it put all your army in that battle. I would repeat this process until he will not do it anymore and then seige down his country. BUT make sure to NOT peace him out untill he has Italian pan nationalist seige down his capital when majority of his country is seiged down by Italian pan nationalist you can peace him out. After a bit you should get a event where you form Italy.

Without rebels you can eke out a little more prestige and mil score my conquering uncivs.

Play as Sardinia and build your troop limit with cannons, build transports to transport ~30k troops in one go, justify a goal on two sicilies, put fleet on the Messina strait away from their fleet (or sink theirs if you really want to), hold Sicily by putting your army on the mountainous tile that connects to Southern Italy by the strait, get a decent defensive general, let them cross and kill their troops by the thousands while you lose not much of anything, occupy all of two sicilies then pull your troops out of Italy before they explode, let the war exhaustion go to 100 and wait for the redshirts to spawn, wait for the rebels to occupy Naples then accept whatever goal you justified for for the added prestige

the redshirts will flip the country to you which will form Italy and automatically annex all of the minors (even the ones in a different sphere or puppets)

you could also annex Tunis or something to make your trip shorter when going to Sicily

What Shiny or DM say. You can also first conquer Tunis and Sokoto if you don't feel confident in defeating Two Sicilies Day 1 and build up.

It's also possible to defeat Two Sicilies taking simply the land route, but it will be a bit trickier. Basically, you have to catch small stacks and wither their armies down, avoiding their larger stacks. Even if large stacks occupy your territory, they will eventually break off into smaller stacks you can snatch (the AI in Paradox Games always does this). Doable, but takes maybe a few months longer. Would ally to Tuscany or something, just so they occupy those lands and not yours.

Alliance with France and letting them do all the work is the easiest way.

but they peace out two scicly before the rebbels take over

Wouldn't this result in Two Sicilies forming Italy and prompting you to be part of it thus resulting in game over?

Sardinia Piedmont is always the one to form Italy regardless if who gets the redshirts. similar to how Prussia is the first offered to form Germany if nationalist rebels break any german state after nationalism and imperialsim is researched(but Prussia only accepts under a liberal government).

Interesting, thanks. Pity it isn't the same with Gran Colombia, or am i missing something?
