Victoria II

Is there any benefit to having Laissez-Faire over the other economic policies?
I swear Laissez-Faire is the worst thing ever in Vic2, surely it can’t just be a downgrade to interventionism

It makes it way cheaper for capitalists to run factories

While whatamidoing is correct, that "upside" is so marginal and unimportant, that it's effectively a "no". Laissez-faire simply sucks :)

maybe its okay once you have factories built almost everywhere and they just need upgrading, but until then state capitalism and interventionism is better.

But why is that better then? Just shift+click on the "+" Upgrade to auto-upgrade all full factories.
As you can do subsidies on Interventionism + State Capitalism, you can run 100% tarrifs witohut any drawbacks and /ignore money completely.

There's a flat +5% (10% in HPM) to output with LF.

Laissez-faire is at its best in a peaceful world with a stable market and little conflicts to rock it up and thats the exact antithesis of what vicky 2 is.
I only use laissez for midgame USA where you just sit on your butt and grow and absorb pops from europe as the world on that side burns as it always inevitably do.
If you are playing as say germany, you almost always want interventionism just for the fact that you have to subsidize your economy when you will be go forced to go through war from either a cocky france or some dumb crisis.
Unless you form Großdeutschland of course in which case, having constant containtment war is a lifestyle.
