Victoria 2 crashes on loading screen, need help please

I have windows 10 and using a 4k monitor, I wanted to play victoria 2 again and after downloading it and verifying the files, iI clicked start on the menu screen to launch the game. The opening cinematic wokred fine and after that the game clicked back to my desktop yet continued to play music and process flags and etc. It would come back to the loading screen from time to time and still go back to the desktop, right before the game would be finishing the loading it would crash and shut down. I have tried so many things but nothing works it keeps crashing. "Help me Obi-Wan your my only hope"

I had this problem when I tried to play V2 on Fullscreen. On my end, my rig doesn't want me to play on anything exccept Windowed and I have this issue on multiple games (Long Dark for one).

Anyway, what I had to do when I was getting a crash with Fullscreen toggled was quickly interrupt the game startup with a ctrlaltdel to bring up my Task manager. But then I would do nothing and let the game boot all the way up to the first menu screen. It seems like my rig could handle the game with the Windows blue screen active while the game finished booting up.

Then bring the game back on screen by minimizing or clicking on it from the taskbar, changed setting back to Windowed, reload, all "ok"

Run the v2game.exe file from outside of steam in the steamapps folder as administrator

This worked but now the flags of the nations don't show up. The flags remain black

I think iirc I then had to reinstall the game for the flags to come back.

Maybe a blessing in disgiuse. I foolishly decided to try tinkering with Borderless and Fullscreen and ran back into same problem. But now any interrupt in the game loads halts the whole process instead of it loading in the backgound. Running from the app doesn't help. Game 100% crashes everytime and is now completely unplayable.

Will never buy products from these clunky coders ever again.

Another fix. Crush your screen resolution down on your Windows/display settings.

btw, I can now play Borderless so can mouse all compass directions by dropping down the *game* resolution once everything was fixed.

Hello, I tried to run the game with the ultimate ultimatum mod but it just crashes in the part of creating borders and I honestly don't know what to do since this is one of my favorite mods
