Anyway, what I had to do when I was getting a crash with Fullscreen toggled was quickly interrupt the game startup with a ctrlaltdel to bring up my Task manager. But then I would do nothing and let the game boot all the way up to the first menu screen. It seems like my rig could handle the game with the Windows blue screen active while the game finished booting up.
Then bring the game back on screen by minimizing or clicking on it from the taskbar, changed setting back to Windowed, reload, all "ok"
Will never buy products from these clunky coders ever again.
btw, I can now play Borderless so can mouse all compass directions by dropping down the *game* resolution once everything was fixed.
