Victoria II

What to do with navy?
Hey all, just started playing and I think I have a pretty good hanf of the systems but I cannot for the life of my figure out what to do with your ships. In EU 4 you could send them on missions and in HOI4 they can patrol or protect trade, but in Vic 2 what is the role of ships?

Thanks!

Navy ships also provide you Colonial Points, which can be useful if you already have colonies, or planning to start more. Best ship for CP/supply ratio is the Ironclad. You can find more info about this here:

Navy ships also contribute to your military score, which contribute to your country's overall power score, so sometimes it's helpful to maintain a big navy (if you can afford it) if you have great power ambitions.

They can be used to blockade enemy ports and transport troops. Naturally they can be used to fight enemy navies.
