Vicky 2 Map Editor
I've made mods before for other paradox games but I can't find a map editor for editing provinces and the map for Vicky 2. There has to be one out there as I doubt modders tediously hunt through the province files to mod their games. Any help would be appreaciated.

Clausewitz Positions Editor as it seems.

Going by this thread in Vic 2 modding subforum: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/a-guide-to-map-modding.551474/ (requires account and game resgietred at off. forum)

The editor though is in the eu3 modding forum, which might be accessible witout a game registered.

I have no idea about map modding. I just searched the offic. forum.

I don't think this is it but I'll try it. I've been looking for a map eidotr for a while. Theone for HOI3 was perfect but I can't find a program that works for Vicky. There must be someway as modders can make huge changes to the map and provinces.

Yeah not what i was looking for. This is for adding new provinces. I simply want to edit already estalbished provinces to change owners and controllers.

ah, change owners and even tradegoods. that's easy. the files are in --> history provinces

and, to find the id number of a province, use console command: provid and linger the cursor over the province. the province number will show down by the mini-map.

console command is accessed with the ` key, on win.

Thanks for the help Zeitbaurer however I would like to know for example if there is a way to do this faster like a certain program for it. For isntance the reason I am asking is I want to move start dates to 1900 and 1933 to simiulate the end of the Vicotran era and the two world wars. So I'm trying to make the map look like it did during those two eras and its tedious to hunt down every province as editing each file is okay as long as you're not working no a huge project such as this.

An example would be HOI3 has the hoiposid which allows you to view the map via a program and change provinces, their cores, and owners at whim and easily. I saw suchs mods like ultimate and other alt hisotry mods that did such huge changes to the map I doubt they picked and edited each file seperatly.

AH, i understand. this isn't quite what you want, but what i do, is use Ultraedit and use its find and replace to open provinces africa, then do a search to find all provinces with POR in the file... 'search file content'... then open all those files at once in Ultraedit. then do a find and replace on open files with, say, find and replace POR with NET. That takes care of the ownership.

now, i haven't used it, but in those files are often commented out data for a later start year. so, i think the date field is live. i'd imagine you could replace that start date with any date you wanted... matching it with your initiating file is it the LUA? i don't remember. i know for sure that i've given all of belgium from the start to the netherlands, just by reassigning BEL to NET.

Since the maps are defined by provinces, i shouldn't think you'd need anything more than manipulating the text files -- even if you wanted to flatten down switzerland... : )

Yeah did it to help for a few, for instance I got Germany and Austria-Hungary to appear in my 1900 date compelte via using that command. Only issues really is Africa since those provinces are left out blank. Seems it's going to be a pain in the ass to get that continent to work. Thanks for the help.

There's a Clauswitch editor that seems it could help. Only problem is it wont work for me and everyone seems so secretive about how to get it to work. I'm at my wits end here. One of you out there has to be a Vicky modder and at one point have SOME kind of program you use to edit the map. I doubt modders who create mods like New World Order, Modern Day, and Ulitmate go by each individual province file.
