It doesn't take place at any point during the show as the show has nothing to do with the Telltale games. The show is entirely non-canon to the comics and the games made by Telltale. It takes place during the a specific point in the comics.
The whole series of walking dead games from telltale are in the comic universe, where there are a lot of major differences in story and characters.
If you wanted to know roughly in terms of where the comics and show are, and how this would at least have a bit of a place in the show timeline, it hasn't gotten there yet.
Season 6 is a nothing season. As in nothing happens. I mean nothing. You take a whole season to meet a single person.
This takes place quite a while after that in the comics. if the show has anything like the same storyline regarding this person from the end of season 6 (and he IS in the comics, a major character), then this will be likely to be around season 8 or maybe even season 9 kind of timeline.
At least another 2 years worth of shows to go before we get close to when this happens in terms of where it happens in the comics.
And that's if the show gets a move on and then if it does actually follow the comic storyline at all, which it sometimes does.
