I just hope this comes with a pdf version of the awesome Falcon 3.0 manual. That alone would make it worth the price.
I still have my manual (still in it's hard cover binder) and all the the extras, the trouble is, if all they did was make it playable on Steam and Win7/10 with nothing else, is it really worth playing these days. This sim had a massive learning curve, it's not something you can do the load & go routine, just learning can take days/weeks depending on the end user. I wonder if the mod group that supported this for so long is even around now?
But really, I would love Falcon 4.0 on Steam; that would be great. I've wanted it since Christmas 2008.
Also I totally agree with you on how glorious the manuals were lmao
i mention that Falcon 4.0 release of GOG.com is include in Falcon Gold's Bonus Stuff.
Here's the official word on it from GOG:
"The last official version before Hasbro disbanded the dev team was 1.08. After the source code leaked though, the community carried the development cycle on and carried the torch. Currently, the Benchmark Sims team is carrying the torch with their excellent BMS - I, being an A10 Warthog fan, am stunned by the amount of work put into all community projects.
Therefore, fixing the old Falcon 4.0 in terms of compatibility would still give you an inferior game. However, in order to install community projects like BMS, you need to show that you have the original game. Hence the decision to include the original Falcon 4.0 as a bonus."
Spectrum Holobyte bought Microprose in 1993 and started using the Microprose name for all of their titles in 1996, i.e. Falcon 4.0 is a Spectrum Holobyte game published under the Microprose name.
Buy Falcon Collection
Includes 4 items: Falcon, Falcon 4.0, Falcon A.T., Falcon Gold
That's weird asf
Sure enough, Falcon 4 is here! Apparently BMS can be installed if pointed to the correct directory in Steam apps, although I haven't tried it myself. Here's to hoping they add a mod workshop!
