Please do not clutter up this forum by dumping known problems in new discussions!
I've ceased my support of this thread, as most problems nowadays don't have a known fix. However I'll stay subscribed and will help if possible.

(Please be aware that I'm doing/did this purely voluntarily. I'm not an employee of Paradox Interactive, just a volunteer moderator.)

This had fixed most crashes in previous versions of the game, however, some crashes nowadays don't have any known fixes or workarounds.

There's no solution, it's a localisation problem and won't be fixed since Magicka doesn't have any dev team working on it anymore. A community made mod could fix this though.

Windows 10 issue - Background process
Set magicka.exe to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. You can find this option by rightclicking magicka.exe. Open the properties, then Compatibility tab. Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3" and press OK. This prevents the program from running as a background application. There is an error message at startup, but just press continue and it should be fine.
Dungeons and Daemons: stuck in the library / can't move
If you go a little further, there's a checkpoint. Activate it and then die. You and your friend (who couldn't move) will respawn at the entrance of the library and everyone should be able to move.
This is just a workaround and obviously not a good option if you're trying to get the no-dying achievement.

  • Explain what you were doing. What mode did you try to play? Multiplayer or not? Did you cast any spells in the moment of the crash? Level progress? Etc.

  • Rightclick Magicka in your Steam library and open the properties.
  • Open the tab local files and select browse local content.

Add cloud save please... My problem that I lost all my progress somewhere...
this game is a piece of garbage, ive wasted so much time trying to get it to work for my friend i bought it for and it will not stop crashing in multiplayer. Why even keep it up in steam store in this condition? Stupid ♥♥♥♥.
In todays day and age, WE are FORCED to LEARN HOW TO MAKE GAMES WORK.
Sad. -rep company.

The Game wont start. I press Play and than nothing. No ERROR message or so.
Getting the same error. Tried to launch it in both Windows 11 or Linux. No success. It doesn't even generate a crash log. The game won't open!

Saw your reddit thread. Thanks for the patch! A bit of information I discovered myself quite some time ago, if you make the Magicka.exe "Large Address Aware" using this application:

You get less crashes. Link also has an explanation as to what it does and how large address aware stuff works. The source of the application is also available. Magicka is a 32 bit application unfortunately. With this patch, it has more RAM available. 4GB instead of 2GB iirc.

I don't know if this would still matter on your patched .exe but I figured it was worth mentioning.

After 30-40 minutes of play the game crashes. No crash report is generated and no windows pop up. The game just hangs for 5 seconds and crashes to the desktop.
