I wouldn't say there is a best robe in Magicka.
It all depends on your skills and fightning style.
The robe with the most advantages and the fewest disadvantages is the Epic Robe.
Has +200 HP, is more resistant to physical and arcane damage and only one disadvantage. It is resistant to life.

My favourite is Robe and Hat though, because it has neither boosts nor disadvantages. And the hat is just awesome ;o

Space robe hands down, with staff of war you have 4000 HP. And add fire resist and physical resist to that. Though it has its disadvantages.

The tank robe does not have lots of health it has only 1000, same as Vanilla robe and many others. It also has a much slower movement speed and is vulnerable to lightning.
Default staff and weapon are pretty useless too.
But it is resistant to physical damage.

The Rogue Robe is quite good, yeah, but it's hard to play it, since it has only 400 HP
On the other hand, it is extremely fast, can be invisible and can teleport with the "staff" ability.

The support robe...well, what can I say? It's probably the weakest robe in the whole game.
It is just weak. Weak against any kind of damage.
The staff reduces the efficiency all your spells to a pathetic minimum, BUT boosts the efficiency of the spells of your allies.
So don't even think about fightning at the front ot using this in single player mode.

My fav. would have to be the Cyber robe. Has an awesome throwing disc and when I cast Lightning storm I get healed +1500 health when I get hit by lightning.

Can't agree with you more. Although it is annoying that his base staff is the same as the default one.

just pointing that out that you can heal 9999+health with thunderstorm on cyber robe XD but my fav is cyber robe too.also i dont own any dlc.

Space Marine robe, I'm not very good at magic due to poor memory issues and am also just not too fast, So the high armor and bolt pistol really make a big difference. I also like the zombie, tenticle to mix it up a bit sometimes.

Ninja Robe - fast movement, block to become invisible
Staff of war - +physical resist +double hp , arcane bolt isn't too bad for a free long range semi aoe blast that has a good recharge time
and either Frost cleaver ( for control ) -or- knife of counter-striking ( for constant super speed )
