I wish I could play this game

But at the moment I can't find a way to fix the chronic crashing issues it has on Windows 10.

I've tried putting on compatability mode.
I've tried disabling overlay's
I've tried not skipping the cut-scenes

Nothing works. I cannot pass the Beholder because it CTD's as soon as I touch the stairs.
Sometimes the game crashes before that after any one of the previous cut-scenes.
To top it off, it never saves any progress and any game I have started reads as if I have played 00:00:00 time in it.

I keep starting new games to try and get around this but that also has not worked.

I am at a complete loss and it sucks that I can't progress past the Tutorial level at all.

they PAY A GUY TO DENY IT THO ... forget fixing it ... pay some moderator on steam to lie to everyone

If you're willing to spend another half an hour trying to get the game to work, here are two options that might make the single player adventure (and other modes in SP) playable:

1) Install an older version of the game

2) Install the modded version "Assatur"

Doing either of these might fix your game crashes but will prevent you from playing together with anyone who doesn't have the exact same version as you.


Additional thoughts:

1) If what you enjoy most about Magicka is the spellcasting system and not necessarily the story game modes, challenges and Versus (PvP) are much more stable than the adventure game modes. 2) Being unable to play a considerable part of the game should hopefully be enough to justify getting a refund from Steam.

Its working for me and I have been playing through it multiplayer. I run it using proton though.

Do you have to downgrade to prevent crashes or will the game possibly be fine for some? I haven't played it yet but I'm hoping I dont have to do anything.

I mean if you don't mind occasionally crashing when a chapter ends (It does save) then no need to downgrade. But if you want a stable game, then yeah downgrade
