How to enable Culture Robes Bundle / Bundles o' Robes in 2020

JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR, THIS METHOD WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO USE THE ROBES YOU DO NOT OWN, ROBES THAT ARE SOLD AS STEAM DLC WILL STILL HAVE TO BE PURCHASED TO BE USED BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE THEIR OWN DLC SPECIFIC ID.

Hello guys, this thread will explain to you how to enable the (now defunct) Paradox Store exclusive robes on your account and use them in any gamemode.
Since the Paradox Store has not been working for almost a year now, these robes and other related stuff became unpurchasable and basically abandonware because Paradox has stopped developing the game.
To enable them you just have to edit their xml files and make the game think that the robes came with the base game since they are using a placeholder Steam appid.

The default location of xml files on Windows 7 would look something like this:
"C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Magicka\Content\Data\Characters\Playable".
Although if you changed your installation directory you will need to find the location of your SteamLibrary folder:
". . .\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Magicka\Content\Data\Characters\Playable"

In the folder "Playable" edit these .xml files:

• WizardArc.xml
• WizardAst.xml
• WizardCent.xml
• WizardIce.xml
• WizardPha.xml
• WizardSha.xml
• WizardViz.xml
• WizardWux.xml

To edit them right click the files and open them in notepad, then all the way down you will see the line "<appid>32562</appid>" delete 32562 and put 42910 there instead so that it looks like this: "<appid>42910</appid>". This will make the game think those robes are part of the base game and then it will allow you to use them.

Since I cannot post pictures here I just want to let you know, that this will work even when you are logged out of Paradox account and in robe selection screen the robes will still have a padlock on them but the game will allow you to select them and change colors.

Have fun blasting and slashing each other with the new robes and tools. :D

Yea Magicka doesn't fully use Valve Anti Cheat, so only thing VAC does in magicka is making sure all content is unmodified. It has to be disabled when playing modded challenge maps and such. Have fun with the robes. :D

Hi I am still looking into it, they kinda messed it up by making the store inoperable, but since they tweaked the way hud works there might be a way to try out different huds with texture swapping. If I find anything I'll post it.

This is a bit late, but just to clarify and reassure: The only thing the so called VAC protection in Magicka does is disabling modded files (maps and robes) in multiplayer if the host leaves it turned on. Therefore no worries about getting banned. Happy modding!

How come it doesn't work in multiplayer? The robes isn't even visible

Is there a code to unlock the Bathrobe too since that may also be considered abandonware? I can find it in the game files, but yeah it does have a different code from the others. Please let me know. Also if I have to buy the bathrobe to get the Bathrobe where would i find that because so far no luck google searching.

Hi, 2023 here. When I use the robes, after doing the appid fix, I get a CTD when the level loads. I do have the game rolled back to version 1.4.16.0, I wonder if that's a problem. Help?

Yes, probably because of the rollback, because these robes were added in the 1.10.X update.

Thanks for this post! It works perfectly fine from my brief test. Now the only thing missing are the HUD elements.
