Troubleshooting: Crashes and other major bugs

Hey guys, we're creating this discussion as a guide to fixing any early access crashes and other major bugs. We will keep updating it as we find new solutions.

Also, if any of the tips below work for you, please, let us know too. We want to find a way to make the game launch and experience fun and stable for all.

*We're located in Slovakia, Central Europe and although we're online as much as possible, there might be response lags to emails / discussion posts. Yes, time zones can be annoying sometimes.

Most common solutions to crashes

#1 - Verify Integrity of Game Cache

The most common issue is that the game files were not installed properly. Steam recommends verifying the integrity of the game cache and they posted a real simple guide on how to do that in the Steam Support Knowledge base >> https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

#2 - Incorrectly installed drivers / graphic card

This situation can happen even if other games do run fine. After reinstalling/ updating the drivers necessary, even the other games should run smoother.

If none of the above fixes work we'd like you to send us the error log so we can take a better look into the problem. If you have any other crash / bug issue, feel free to let us know in the discussion below, we'll look into it as soon as possible.

Error log - locating it

Please, if your situation is not found above, the best thing to do is to send us your error log following these 3 steps:

Run the game up to the point where it crashes / bugs.
Locate your error log file: It’s located inside the Steam game folder, usually here:
C:\...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Feed and Grow Fish\Feed and Grow_Data\output_log.txt
*If it’s not there, try searching for SteamApps folder
Send it over to us via email – info@feedandgrow.net and we’ll look into it straight away.

the anglerfish poops out a billion black pixels when sprinting / boosting, is this a bug? probably, am i right?

try reinstalling,or verifying the cache,both of which you can do with the "property" tab

My game keeps crashing and It's stupid as it happens when I'm at around lv40 or higher. Game feezes and then kicks you.

Game wont load at all... sound starts but the menus never load... I see this in my error log:

In Deathmatch mode, I have noticed that one Great White in the Ruins will stop patrolling for food as soon as it's large enough to swallow black tip sharls. Then, at some pont, it wanders close to the spawn pont for the black-tipped sharks and stays there, slurping them up as they spawn.

Once that happens, it's not a good idea to spawn as a black-tipped shark.

Hi

I downloaded this game for my son on Saturday and have tried to play it a few dozen times, each time I get an error message before it even loads, feed and grow fish exe has stopped working etc. Once it actually got to the menu screen, but quickly crashed the same way.

Anyone know what to do, other than ask for a refund. Its on a brand new laptop so I cant see it being a problem with that to be honest.

Nah, its a Lenovo IdeaPad 120s 14-Inch Laptop.

Specs?Have you tried re-installing or verifying the cache?DirectX version?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've re-installed a few times and verified but still the same. When I verify the game it states:

1 File failed to validate and will be reaquied.

But still the same result. I assume it 'reaquires' itself.

I'll get the specs for the laptop, this (Steam) is like literally the first thing I've loaded on it. Is there anything I need to load on? Divx or whatever. As you may be able to tell, I've been out of he loop for some time.
