Anybody willing to help me, CLICK THIS!
Ok, I wanted to post something to see if anyone would see it, probably not but if you do see this, just hear me out. My favorite game of all time (Feed and Grow: Fish) has been abandoned by the developers and is no longer getting updates or maintenance. It’s been my favorite game for as long as I can remember, and I don’t wanna see it lost forever. So I want to gather a group of devs to recreate it and continue its legacy because the original devs were definitely onto something. So if you or anyone you know is willing to help me with this project, (I don’t have any money so it’d just be for the fun of it) please let me know in the comments. We need all the help we can get. Comment your Discord username so I can add you to the project. I’m also planning on documenting the whole thing. So that’ll be fun.

what is your development experience? where at you at so far and what type of road map do you have planned? or is this entirely an unstarted effort?

While I haven't started anything, I do have a few (albeit inexperienced) developers who could help out. As for me, I make music and everyone says I'm a professional, so I'll probably just stick to that while everyone else makes the game. I'm not planning on having this done for a long time, but if you could help, please do. We need all the help we can get. Just respond with your Discord username so I can add you to the project. Also, as for my plans, I'm planning on just getting the game to where it's at now, and then releasing regular updates. Maybe one or two a month.

Could you clarify for me, you have no money, nor experience in game development, programming, etc, and you want others with experience to develop/use resources/maintain a game for you, for fun?

I'd say slim chance lol

Actually you'd be surprised how often this happens.
.Hack/sign
Battlefield 2142
Earth Eternal
PlayStation Home
and many more games have been revived by people that wanted to bring back games with no promise of monetary reward. I think this game is popular enough to draw in people like that.

Look I get that its not exactly the most likely outcome for this game, however this game literally makes up 90% of my childhood, I’m sure you can understand why I’d want to recreate it no matter the chances. Just if you can help, please do. If you can’t then don’t.

I'm a fan of this game too, and I wish I could help, but... I don't have anything I can offer besides my support. I hope the other commenters on this thread didn't get you down.

Honestly i would help but i only have scripting experience in Roblox. Literatlly any other platform, I can not script on it. I am bad at building in Unity and Unreal Engine and all those things your need for a game and overall I would not be any help! Theres one thing I could do, that is be a tester? You always need testers right? If you want me to be a tester, well, happy to help. Just tell me what i have to do and ill do it. Thanks!

So is it impossible to actually play the game, or can you still play it but it is just not getting updates.

For many it's impossible to play the game at all even with some of the tricks the users here have discovered. Some users have been able to still play the game but that number is decreasing over time and most people are unable to play now.

You can play the game by reverting the version to a prior patch. To do this, enable Steam Console via Win + R and type in "steam://open/console" (remove the quotation marks), find the app/depot/manifest ID on SteamDB, download the manifest using Steam Console by inputing the command "download_depot <AppID> <Depot ID> <Manifest ID>" (again, remove the quotation marks), replace your game files with the downgraded ones by browsing your local files, and finally, turn off automatic updates if you want to roll back the game's version.

For example, if you wanted to download the manifest for the October 2021 update, you'd use the command "download_depot 429050 429051 5928227069719521108" to download that version.

Here's the site page to the manifests, app IDs, and depot IDs for Feed and Grow Fish.

Someone has already tried this before. This link leads to a virus trap flagged by Avast antivirus, he's just trying to infect your computer.

Do not visit this site.

Or better yet, just look up how to rollback a game version on Steam, and you will see the exact process I've listed across dozens of sites and guides. You can also look and see what it is flagging, as some antiviruses can give false positives, as you are overwriting existing files with new ones. You're probably better off looking at Malwarebytes, Sophos or Bitdefender over Avast, at least in my experience. But hey, at least it isn't McAfee.

If there is a more reputable source for this information then please feel free to post it, any and all fixs that make it to were people can play the game are welcome.

As for Avast, it's currently the best antivirus on the market but it is far from the only defense i have. I also use Spybot search and destroy 2 as a backup antivirus as well as ExpresssVPN, Firefox and Ublock origin. I'm quite confident I'm not getting a false positive.

Also why would you ever mention McAfee *shudder* lol
