Why is this game never on sale?

My friend and I made a pact that the next time this game goes on sale we would both buy it. That was probably half a year or a year ago now and it still has never gone on sale as far as I'm aware (I do check occasionally and Steam mobile app notifies you when things on your wishlist go on sale).

I thought for sure that it would finally go on sale when the steam summer sale began, but lo and behold it's still not! It's like a running gag it never goes on sale. Has this title been completely abandoned or something??

it's been an early access game since 2016 so I think that says something

the base game isnt even nearly done. thats why multiplayer isnt even fully finished either.

they need to finish the base game first.

they had to rework their coding.

I also think that a commercial gesture by participating in the summer steam sale would have been appreciated. Being in E.A. is not an excuse not to do a small promotion on a game and motivate customers. Other games are also in E. A and do promotions. Examples: Fisher online with -25% this game has only one develloper and yet it does a promo or Stationeers whit -15%.

What makes me like a game, it's not only the game itself but also and especially the will, the motivation and the way the creators communicate their intentions.

They are the ones who reflect a trustworthy environment towards their communities. The summer sales are the most important with the winter one. It is the opportunity to sell a little more copy than in normal period. But to do this, sometimes you have to be generous with a "small" gesture.

Early Access titles go on sale plenty, and I don’t see why that would be the reason / excuse to not put a title up for sale.

Especially since it’s summer right now, at this time of year people pay more attention to underwater themed games because it’s part of the season. People are going to beaches and pools again, and titles like these get more traction. Sort of like how around October and Halloween Horror / Thriller titles get more traction then.

If there was ever a time to put this game on sale, now would have been the time I think.

Because what I'm getting off that site is that they've put it on sale a total of 4 times. Total

Today is December 23rd, 2021, and this title has still not gone on sale.

I think I may just update this thread every time there's a wide sale on steam and Fish: Feed and Grow chooses not to participate. If for no other reason than to keep track for myself.

(I should also mention it did not go on sale around October during the October fest sale- should be a given seeing that it is now December and I'm updating this thread).

Today is June 24th, 2022, and this title has still (to my knowledge) not gone on sale.

I just realized that today is the 1 year anniversary of the creation of this thread. A full year come and gone without a single sale to boost the popularity of this game or push it out to new audiences.

I thought for sure, same as last year, that this game would be perfect to go on sale during the summer season when people are looking to play aquatic related games. Unfortunately, this is not the case. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

December 30th, 2022, it's just a few days after Christmas (was hoping for a miracle) and the game still hasn't gone on sale.

Also I think I forgot to make an update to this thread around October for the Halloween sale, but needless to say that didn't happen then either.

For me, the development is clearly abandoned
I think Steam should do like the Hellion game, i.e. remove the game from the shop. But before that, to offer it 24 hours for free before removing it permanently.

It might not ever happen, as the game is basically dead in the water and abandoned unfortunately.
