bleak survival

I can't really figure out what I should be eating as a Bleak. The only thing I can find that I can seem to eat is the Christmas cookies that are all over the place. Is that it?

Yes, they should totally do.

Christmas cookies as a pollywog and then as an adult you can kill and eat Minnows. You'll find them in the shallow parts. You can also steal meat from other's kills. But basically you are at the bottom of the food chain, so you eek out an existence.

That makes sense and I thought it would be an interesting gameplay perspective, which is why I started out as a bleak. I just thought that would consist of going after small-fry like bugs or plant material. It seems a little weird to me that the river's ecosystem is built on a foundation of gingerbread cookies.

I'm pretty new to the game, came in at Christmas, so I am assuming this is temporary and the cookies will change back to something benign.

Yeah I thought the same thing, I was hoping someone would confirm that.

But mostly I'm interested to see survival implemented for the other maps.

Agree, Survival is very interesting. Are you aware you can choose other fish in the Survival play mode by clicking Fish Select? Doing so you play WITH hunger and WITH breeding, etc. The "Deathmatch" modes are boring as heck for me, should be called "Free swim".

Sorry for necroing this thread, but yeah, cookies are a limited-time Christmas dealio, they get replaced by bugs on all other times (maybe they're candy on Halloween, idk). Where are these minnows? I can't get enough xp to lay eggs...
