How is this game for single player?
I've read there is no way to save progress? Is that true? Could someone explain what a single player run is like? Thanks.

The two main types are deathmatch and survival. Deathmatch works like this, you start with no money and drop in as a free fish. You swim around eating whatever you can. As you survive you grow and earn money. Once you die, or feel you have enough to suicide for a new fish you can pick what you like as long as you can afford. When you choose a stronger fish, its easier to feed but growing takes longer. The money only saves for as long as you dont waste it, and the game is running. Loosing your money is not that big of a deal in my oppinion as it truly does not take that long to earn money. The more powerful a fish you are, the faster money comes

Survival is much the same as deathmatch, the only difference is you earn money per baby raised, and i belive for size. This game mode is much harder and takes longer but money does save permenantly... for as long as your save remains intact on your pc of course. This mode is what you would choose if you want a "deeper" game mode other than just blindly swimming around even though you can still do that, but its up to you if you want your puppy eyed children shreded into meat chunks.

The game takes place in a small sandbox (unless its the great map). Avoid the big fish unless you can ambush them and avoid getting bit. Most of the time if something latches onto you, its mostly game over as its hard to break off. The game is fun, but expect a simple arcady feel. Since you can grow indefinitly its addicting to see just how big you can grow.

Well, it's very different from Multiplayer, since you'd probably just be messing around in a multiplayer server (if you even get it to work.) Like the post above, there are two main gamemodes, Survival and Deathmatch. Although, Red Coins (what I call the survival currency) are only learned through raising babies and going into adulthood, not size. Since they covered the normal gamemodes, I'll talk about the other(s).

The Halloween Challenge, and Crab Madness, which are both set to certain difficulties and can not be changed. The Halloween Challenge is set to Hard, and, as the title says, it's only accessible during Halloween. Until last Halloween Update, there weren't any rewards for getting a certain score. It's just a challenge to see if you can get a lot of candy. The playable zombie skins broke last update, though, and the achievement is now defeat the megalodon (for some reason). It says the zombies see you if you move, but that's a lie. Hide in Jack-o-Lanterns to survive them. Oh, and don't go around the floor a lot, there's also zombie hands that will surprise attack you. The golden bar candies and lollipops give a lot of points, so go for those. It's set in the swamp map, too.

Crab Madness is set to Normal mode, and there's different playable species depending on what map you play on. On the Ocean Map, you have the Normal Crab, Pirate Crab, Mantis Shrimp (achievement unlock), and King Crab (achievement unlock). On Great Map, you get Colossal Crab and Megalograptus (might've been removed tho, i saw a post about it being gone). The Colossal Crab is kinda simple, and similar to the normal crab. The Megalograptus is extremely powerful, though, and it's easy to level as it. It was also the first thing with jiggly physics, I think, which made it kinda hard to control when trying to use your sprint, which is similar to the mantis shrimp's, except you can fly. It can grab enemies from far away, gains EXP p quick, can knock out enemies for a bit, ragdolling them, and making them take damage for a bit (it made the mosasaur's body flip out). If you want to quickly beat the bosses, go for it, though it kinda gets boring after a bit.
EDIT: It was just bugged for them, the Megalograptus is still there

The normal crab is very simple: Eat, jump around, and avoid predators.
Mantis Shrimp: Your sprint is swimming, and you pack a punch. They're decently strong, and can be unlocked by getting 5 coins as the pirate crab. Punching also moves you forwards, but you can't latch onto things.
King Crab: Unlocked by getting level 10 on a normal crab. It's like normal crab, but you can lay eggs for the cost of EXP, which hatches into your own green minions. Other green crabs can join you, but you can't control them specifically, just make sure to not accidentally attack your eggs or they'll destroy them. They're extremely powerful, and it's fun to see your army of crabs follow you and get stuck on things. You get an achievement for beating your evil King Crab rival as this.
I consider the Pirate Crab a separate gamemode, though. Large, shiny coins can spawn, and so do beer bottles. I haven't checked if you get more things past 10 coins, but if you get 5 into the chest in the shipwreck, you unlock a little hat for the crab, and the mantis shrimp. 10 coins unlocks a POWERFUL sword for your crab, but you can't grab things. You can turn it on and off with F1. The beer bottles fill your meter up when you drink them, and your crab can get drunk. It makes you powerful, but you ARE drunk, so...
When the meter is full, you're REALLY, REALLY powerful, but you stagger around a LOT, and your screen is kinda trippy.

tl;dr halloween challenge is a hard-mode in the swamp map where you eat candies to get a higher score and hide in jackolanterns from zombie fish, crab madness is a silly gamemode where you can play as extremely powerful things and you can be a drunk pirate crab
EDIT: I just realized that Crab Madness isn't binded to Normal anymore

That's great thanks to you both, but...can I stop playing whenever I want and save my game to be resumed later?
