Tips to beat the prognathodon

1.) This thing breathes air, which means that it can actually drown while you are fighting it, and you may (or may not) get an achievement). So make the fight as fast as possible, or only go for it once it's gone for air

2.) It has REALLY good AI. It can not only react quickly, but it will immediately face you to fight once you get close. my best suggetion is to make sure it is distracted before you go in. otherwise, you'll lose.

3.) It has armor. That means that if you are doing, lets say, 16 damage per bite, you'll only do a fraction of that in combat.

4.) USE THE GREAT WHITE! One of the best new things is that the great white shark is now usable in the great map. However, its still tough, and it levels up rather slowly. My suggestion to you is to attack the prognathodon once you are at LEAST level 10, and if you go level 20, you'll be a little too big of a target (not to say its not impossible, its just a personal preferance). You need to be strong, but agile. I would attack the sperm whale and megalodon bosses to level up. i know, it sounds crazy, i know, but the megalodon's bite radius has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, so you can swim right by it's face and avoid a fatal chomp (take caution though, this IS the megalodonn we are talking about). And the sperm whale actually turns tail to the great white, giving you the upper hand.

5.) USE THE SEA SCORPION IN CRAB MADNESS! Like seriously, it stands no chance once you are at lvl 20 (shoutout to redux for pointing it out)

it may take a couple of attempts to actually get it right, (trust me, i know), but you'll most likely succeed soon enough if you take my advice. Take care, and have fun!

sea scorpion is overpowered and always was lol. the stun ability literally makes it able to kill anything it wants to, no matter what.

wait do you still get the achievment when killing it in crab madness with the sea scorpion? if yes, then aarh...because that would mean i went through the long hard way of killing it with the great white.

It seems my problem wasn't cheating, but that I was killing the wrong reptile. Even so, I still managed it. Thanks for the Megalograptus tip, 6eezb43.

Looks like it. I went to Crab Madness in the Great Map , earned a bunch of points with the colossal crab, then switched to the megalograptus. I left the crab's corpse on land where I could find it (to get a head start on growing) then ate it to give the megalograptus a growth spurt.

Then I went and knocked off several Kronosaurus, then went after the Prognathosaurus. I got lucky and was able to jump it from behind while it was polishing some other creature off. After multiple bites and stings, I unlocked the achievement.

I haven't tried out the biggest reptile yet, but so far, the Kronosaurus doesn't look like it will be catching very many fish iT doesn't sneak up on first. It seems a bit sluggish.

Kind of late reply to this but i can confirm that using a level 30 (mine was level 33) sea scorpion is probably the fastest way to kill it. I waited until it was going to the surface, and attacked its back end. I stung it every time my ability recharged and it practically never woke up. It also took damage from drowning because I went after it when it tried to surface.

I defeated prognathodon with the first fish (piranha) at lvl 130.

Here's how I did it and it required almost no work at all. Just farming. I started out with a Ghost Shark because they spawn literally right next to a whale spawn point. I was able to kill a Whale just as level 1 (it took a couple of bites, but since the ghost shark latches on and does even more damage it is faster than you think.) After I got to level 136, or if you want to be noticeably larger than a whale that leaves you with 15,000 health. Now all you need to do is find the Prognathodon and you can kill him in 1 or 2 bites easily! He can't even hurt you, because you're too damn big. I would make sure he doesn't get behind you though because ghost sharks have a great turn but they are quite slow. I went towards him headfirst so I would recommend you do the same. Nothing can hurt you then so if you want to you might as well go and kill the great white too. Just be careful on shores because since you're so big you may or may not get stuck because the game will think you're trying to put your head above water. Also, I don't know if this matters or not but I did this all by myself in deathmatch. It also left me with about 73,000 coins, so you don't need to worry about coins.

BUT, if you don't like the grind like me, you can always just use cheats. After you select your shark of choice just press u and l at the same time WHILE IN GAME and it will level you up. No work, No problems.
