Tips to beat the prognathodon
1.) This thing breathes air, which means that it can actually drown while you are fighting it, and you may (or may not) get an achievement). So make the fight as fast as possible, or only go for it once it's gone for air

2.) It has REALLY good AI. It can not only react quickly, but it will immediately face you to fight once you get close. my best suggetion is to make sure it is distracted before you go in. otherwise, you'll lose.

3.) It has armor. That means that if you are doing, lets say, 16 damage per bite, you'll only do a fraction of that in combat.

4.) USE THE GREAT WHITE! One of the best new things is that the great white shark is now usable in the great map. However, its still tough, and it levels up rather slowly. My suggestion to you is to attack the prognathodon once you are at LEAST level 10, and if you go level 20, you'll be a little too big of a target (not to say its not impossible, its just a personal preferance). You need to be strong, but agile. I would attack the sperm whale and megalodon bosses to level up. i know, it sounds crazy, i know, but the megalodon's bite radius has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, so you can swim right by it's face and avoid a fatal chomp (take caution though, this IS the megalodonn we are talking about). And the sperm whale actually turns tail to the great white, giving you the upper hand.

5.) USE THE SEA SCORPION IN CRAB MADNESS! Like seriously, it stands no chance once you are at lvl 20 (shoutout to redux for pointing it out)

it may take a couple of attempts to actually get it right, (trust me, i know), but you'll most likely succeed soon enough if you take my advice. Take care, and have fun!

the new update rolled out. they replaced the mosa with a prognathodon, and its difficult to beat as hell

I thought the smaller one I saw was a downscaled mosa. There's a pointy-nosed one that hangs around in the area that was formerly uff-limits. I thought that was the one. I killed it (after being eaten by it several times) and then wondered why all the marine reptiles were still locked.

Damn i wish i found this a half hour ago. Im lvl 23 as GW and was farming the kronosaur to kill the Prog. Is it still doable at my level?

If you used cheats, then you can't earn achievements (and therefore can't unlock the marine reptiles)

I didn't use any cheats during that session. If it's "no cheats ever", then can I reset it by uninstalling and reinstalling the game or am I boned forever?

I used the Bibos. Bibos has good speed, damage and levels up really quickly.

I killed it when I was at level 80. It was still close though, and I think I was doing over 600 damage per bite at the height of it's rage ability.
Then I got to try out the Aigialosaurus and I loved it. :3

Nah a restart should do it, I got a bit curious and wanted to see the "cheater" sign the patch notes talked about so I did it myself, but you should be fine if you restart the game.

What cheats are the devs even talking about? I never saw anything like a cheat console etc in the game...

lmao no. the thing was swimming in the whale shark zone when i came from behind with my great white and it was NOT distracted, for some reason it did not care at all that i was literally touching its back with my nose already and when i started chewing on his back, the thing barely tried fighting back and at some point it just died by all the back biting lol
