Optional Custom lvl cap?
I know that many enjoy that they can now grow infinitely and lvl infinitely in Survival as well but I have noticed an extra negative effect on it.

You become so OP!

After a while, the game basically becomes a Deathmatch copy, playing the GW with nothing to truly keep you on your toes and with no trouble finding food. After a certain lvl, the survival aspect of Survival mode gets lost and the game becomes boring to play.

I propose this one solution:

When choosing Survival, you could set your own lvl cap for that game session. This would stop us from lvling if we dont want to go beyond a specific limit. Those who want to grow enormous can still do so.

Thanks for reading.

---------------------------
My honest opinion here....

1. Infinite lvls make you OP. After a specific lvl, you become the strongest beast and can kill anything. How boring is that?
2. It became a Deathmatch copy. After some lvls, there is no challenge anymore.
3. Survival has a goal and a unique gameplay mechanic, which is ruined by infinite lvls. (You are supposed to be kept on your toes, survive as long as you can, avoid all threats and sustain yourself. But if you can be lvl100+, you have no threat, you can inhale GWs as well. From there on, there is no more challenge.)
4. High lvls bring in frustration instead of challenge. You move relatively slowly compared to your size.
5. There is no way to stop lvling. You HAVE to eat to stay alive, which in turn will make you grow. Which in turn just creates frustration.
6. No, nobody can ask anyone to just restart after certain lvls. This is not Deathmatch. Points are way harder to get.
7. Although some people enjoy being the ultimate beast, others would love to have the old Survival back at least with a custom set lvl cap.
---------------------------
I am still unsure why it is so difficult to accept for some people that others might not enjoy infinite lvls in Survival. You may enjoy it, others dont. You cannot force them. What kind of harm would custom set lvl caps do to you? Just dont set one for yourself and you can have your infinite lvls but let others choose what they want and how they want to play.

Thanks.

i agree with point 2, but we shouldn't put a lvl cap on this game just because you don't like it.
i don't have a problem with it and i don't think you become hyperslow

Bassilth,This is Not True,You Can't Put Lvl 15 Cap Back.

@Kharnath
I was playing the Ichtio and it became very slow once it reached a specific lvl. Not to mention you cant keep feeding it and eventually you die of hunger because you are always hungry. It isnt that I dont like it... it is just that I dont see the point of it in Survival.

@G4M3R10
I didnt mean the lvl15 cap for my first suggestion. But a unique cap for every creature, where they are still playable.
As for my second suggestion, you can pick your lvl or dont put a lvl cap at all.

it looks slow but you actually cover more ground when you're bigger. the hunger is a problem i agree with.

You don't slow down when you grow, you actually get a bit faster IIRC.

Its just that the proportional speed is lowered.

You also don't gain hunger toooooo quickly, in that if you eat lots of sharks and ♥♥♥♥, you won't ever starve until, I don't know...Level 300? At level 100 I was fine.

Devs should fix the hunger scaling.

I think I was around lvl 60, when I started to have issues with balancing hunting and getting to the surface to breathe. It also makes breeding impossible because although you can kill larger things, after a while you will require all the food you hunt to stay alive, starving your babies. Or it forces you to leave them in dangerous waters to hurry to breathe, making them easy meals.

To me, it feels like I am getting very slow. Could be because I get bigger but my speed stays the same. It is still a problem I dont want to deal with. It is just frustrating. Especially with a creature you get used to speed at.

As I said, they should balance food requirements, but IMO infinite levels is more fun.

Infinite lvling is fun in Deathmatch where it actually should belong. In survival? Not so much. Not for everyone, at least. Not when it makes the game unnecessarily difficult and frustrating.

As such, they should satisfy both parties, by allowing us to set a custom lvl limit.

Also, dont expect them to fix hunger scaling. They told us the larger we are, the more hungry we will be. So this part is not broken. It is its negative effect. You cant have one without the other. It is a fair trade for a larger size and enormous health and high damage.

A larger animal has a larger stomach, and in water can be more efficient, thus its not working as it should be.

Do you see the great whites and mosasaur dying from hunger? No.

you do realize you don't have to grow right? you can just start over.

And lose precious points? No, thank you. It isnt deathmatch, where you get points at every corner. I dont want to restart every time I reach a specific lvl if I could just keep playing peacefully.

@ThatZenoGuy:
Those are NPCs. NPCs arent supposed to die of hunger. They are there to keep you on your toes, to pose a threat or to provide food. If things started to die of hunger left and right, the game would be over very quickly. Not to mention you would have nothing to eat, since they would be more drawn to eat all the food.

And if you havent yet noticed, NPCs dont seem to grow after a specific size, so it is safe to say they are still balanced and have a lvl cap.

NPC's have infinite growth, its just that they get culled by other fish...

Hmm. I still havent seen any of them die of hunger or grow enormous. It cant be that all of them, especially GWs and the Mosa gets killed from time to time. I have yet to see a gigantic Mosa or a GW inhaling half the ocean.

The larger things either don't level up, or they level up very slowly.

Additionally fish really far away IIRC don't really move around much, optimisations done to the game has reduced their AI.
Kharnath Sep 28, 2017 @ 4:25am
i have seen enormous animals in deathmatch, but in survival it's the mosa that stops fish from growing too big. you need to be atleast lvl 100 as an ichthyo to kill the mosa and you most likely die yourself.
