tech tree edits

I have opened the 2 .gob files and I can not find anything relevant to the techtree... only techtree files and .tga ... nothing about who has what tech

It's called MasterTechList.tech (Steam treats this as a link, it's not)

It's in the SOTS.gob file, subfolder TechTree.

Ok, I can get into the .gob and extract the mastertech file... I can then edit it... but how do i get it back into the .gob?? I am either too tired or too stupid to figure this out atm... using dragon unpack to get into it...

dont export it just edit it in the .gob and save, two things will happen it saves and u can exit out or it saves and freezes, just task manager crash it then and double check if it saved


make a copy of the .gob file, its just what you do when you mess around with files

Edit: try to drag and drop it into the gob replacing the file, if it wont let you, remove the file in the gob and replace it with your exported one

been trying to do those exact things and nothing. I vaguely remember doing this last time I was messing with SOTS but it has been a few years...

try different programs, or straight up export all of it, modify whatever you need then zip it back up and change the file type to .gob

its the zipping it back up part that is creating the issue.. how exactly do you repack a .gob? only unpacker i am finding is dragon and I can not figure out how to repack the damn thing lol

right click the folder and select the option to compress, compress to zip or rar and then rename the post . section to gob

basically
sots,zip / sots.rar to sots,gob
thats should do the trick

zip, rar, gob etc area just compressing formats they are not much different from each other


get winrar, it will ask you to buy it now and then but at this point its a meme

Thank you... WinRar sorted the issue for me..

Any idea where the race specific sounds are hiding " yes my queen" and such? I have crawled all over the folders and it is not under species or sounds... or anywhere.

sots_local_en.gob

en is for english version so it might be different if u have it in german etc same thing still
