What to do first turn of an AI Rebellion (asking advice)
So my buddies and I play various set ups of 4v4. We're currently playing the Bastard Sword of the Stars mod and I tripped an AI rebellion for the first time in a long time. Some relevant details:

1) I have a Hiver ally with gates on a number of my worlds.
2) I had something like 25-28 colonies and 10 of them flipped to AI
3) The ones that flipped were front line worlds.
4) I have fleets on at least a few of them because they were front line worlds.
5) BSOTS bombardment is lessened and I don't have Troopships up anywhere.
6) I have a LOT of command stations and asteroid monitors on those outer worlds. BSOTS in particularly makes station building easier and cheaper.
7) It happened right at the end of our last session and we are right at the cusp of it.

Key Question is: What do I do with those orbitals? Do they become the AIs (are they already? I didn't really check)? Like I know hiver gates stay put for one turn and part of the gate network. Are orbitals the same for all races? Should I scuttle them while I have the chance (if I even have a chance)?

Other question is just strategy. Although I think it's pretty obvious. I think i want to purge my empire from the inside out leaving the new AI opponent in between me and the original 4 opponents so that at least he's pincered and start on AI Virus immediately (although I need to build up some cruisers in my middle line to sweep forward first I think). I'll enlist the help of the Hiver ally as much as he's able.

Any thoughts? Anyone had this happen recently enough that they know exactly how it all works?

thanks!

Nanite missiles work well. But honestly what Vuyek suggested is best. It's been my experience that the AI planets spawn lots of warfleets very fast and they're hard to get ahead of. Load your save and pick a new thing to research. Then later on you can try the AI again.

OF course this can spice up your game.

I do not play 4x games to "ownage win!!!".

If you haven't already done some research into the BIOWEAPONS tree, you're probably in bad shape. You'll need to get the AI Viruses to really conquer them completely. You can rush research it, assuming you're not in early game (they're pretty hefty techs) and assuming you can hold off their fleets long enough. I forget the details (as I usually re-load as well) but I think one virus will kill them and the one after that will assimilate/pacify them.

What you do in order..

Step 1: Realize you've lost your core worlds.
Step 2: Panick
Step 3:
Step 4: Profit.

Or do something that the previous people said. Nanites, ai virus, swift strikes and gurrilla warfare.

Step one is to obtain AI Virus. Once you have that it will kill rebellious ships when you visit their colonies. Step two is to obtain AI Slaves. AI Administration, AI Manufacturing, and/or AI Fire Control are lost as soon as a rebellion occurs. AI Slaves will return those technologies to you. If you have AI Slaves before a rebellion occurs it will kill the rebellion as it is born.
