How does the resolution scale for a modern monitor/screen resolution?
2560x1440, specifically. Is the text readable? Are the graphics still decent? TIA!

Run it one time, so it creates that file (in the same folder as the mars.exe engine), and then make any changes you need, make it read-only, and run sots. Here's a partial bit of mine:

width 2560
height 1401
fullscreenWidth 2560
fullscreenHeight 1440

That works for full screen or windowed mode (I use Games Window Relocator - a utility to force older games in window mode to line up with the screen properly - if you want to run in windowed mode - fullscreen you don't need this).

That's what I play 2560x1440 at 27". It's great - but - I ensure I run at 60 Hz - otherwise some of the animations in the gui are spaz-tastic. I also had to edit and lock the 'display.cfg' file after running it the first time in order to force it to have the right video settings (simple file, just mark it read-only after configuring it the way you want - otherwise Sots has a habit of screwing up the display settings).
The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

I didn't do anything special that I recall and it ran 2560x1440 just fine. The text is quite readable - looks like it's the same size as the font my desktop icons use in Win10.

The graphics look great. But all the text is smaller. Actually just came to the discussions here to see if there's any way to increase the text size at resolutions above 1080P.

Love the game and started playing again, although I feel the interface could use some work.

To answer your question: I think there is a free piece of software here on Steam that scales text. However, I've only read about it (not used it) and it didn't work for whatever game the forum post talked about.

It is an enjoyable game.

Remember the name of the software? Are there side effects (like negative impacts on performance)?

I have no experience with either of these but am sharing

I just took a glance at those two links. So, if I'm understanding correctly, they're only going to upscale the game overall (as opposed to making the text any larger or more readable). At least in my situation, my graphics card already does that (Sword running at 1080p still fills my entire 4K screen). I guess those links are useful if your graphics card or display isn't going to scale the game for you? The game's text is still going to get smaller when actually running at higher resolutions because, as pointed out by folks in other discussions, the user interface does not scale with the rest of the game as you increase the resolution it runs at.
