huh? i don't know the names from everything ingame, but this sounds like a new microphone? so it does exactly what the other microphones do, it's just the next upgrade.

if you mean it didn't change anything in the videomaking screen, it could also be that you just got an additional render point now after buying that. not everything instantly boosts an option up.

I bought a mic and in the directional place of settings (where monodirectional is) it said cardroid.
When I do a monodirectional video, cardriod is -7 music.

okay, so you are confused, because of the -7 right?

this is simply to show you that your new mic is better. it's a little wierd at first, but with a better mic, it'll record more sounds from the background etc. it's simply better and records stuff that isn't supposed to be recorded, BUT your voice also sounds way better... so in the end you start with negative music points, because you'll gain more points for having the better mic.

hope that was understandable.

I know this was asked a while back but I'd still like to answer this one. A cardoid mic is simply a specific type of microphone. Cheap mic's are, I believe, omni-directional. This means that they pick up all around. It's the cheapest way to build them. Cardoid mic's, or microphones that have a Cardoid setting are more expensive. It means that it only picks up at the front.

That's the difference. Different types of microphones are better suited for certain set-ups. For instance, if you have two people, sitting next to each other...using a Cardoid setting is not such a good idea. No matter how you position it, it won't pick up both voices equally. So, you use a different setting. If it's just you, you use a cardoid setting.

This is portrayed in the game as well. Once you get to the more expensive mikes you have more options and some of them are better suited for certain situations. Try clicking on it and see what works best.
