Arsenal of Democracy

AoD or DH?
I played HoI2 Doomsday and Armageddon a lot a few years back, and loved both. Now I've got a hankering to try that kind of game again.
I've got both Darkest Hour and Arsenal of Democracy, but I haven't the time anymore to play both enough to learn their kinks and differences, so I'll just ask the community... If you've played both, which do you recommend? Why?

Thanks for any opinions.

Both are good, and they are different! DH is good, but the most different version, when compared to HOI2, AOD is a better version of the more traditional HOI2, but seriously try both, they are different in how they play!

Thanks, but I know it'll take hours to get to know just one of them. I really don't see myself getting enough game time to make a fair comparison, I just want to sink my teeth into one.

AoD is the one I played a little bit, and it felt reasonably similar to HoI2. How is DH different?

DH has a map with far more provinces, and the game speed is remarkably faster - those will be the immediately apparent changes.

Others are the way it handles events - rather then the events just springing up on you, you can trigger them. I.e. as Germany it will list the Remilisarisation of Rhineland event, saying what you need to do in order to trigger it. It has also made production times much more realistic (which isn't inherently a good thing when ships can take over a 1,000 days to build!)

AoD . Supply system / battle stack penalty / good naval combat . stoped DH after lost big fleet VS fleet with one british carrier no losses from their side at all.(and ships take a long time to build in DH). At least in Aod they retreat imediately. naval good overall - for exmpl carrier can attack port with CAGS and if there are planes in that province they take part in that skirmish.
