Marley, it is incorrect sprite for that Nation. If you check the folder with all those sprites, you will see neutral and Japan Tactical Bomber Sprites. I havent check all nation's Tac Bomber Sprite.
Anyway doesnt matter, i wont be messing with this game anyway. Gonna stick with Darkest Hour.

Originally HOI2 had only one generic bomber sprite (T-bomber... in \gfx\map\units) which was used to represent the NAV, STR and TAC bombers and also air transports. Only later AOD added (besides T-cas...) the T-naval... and T-tactical... .spr files which allowed for individual bomber sprites. AFAIK there are still no .spr files for air transports.
If your Japan bomber doesn't show up in the game it's simply because the T-bomber a- ... c- japan l-1.spr files have not been adapted to the new standard by being renamed to T-tactical... :-(
The bug arises from the uninted side effect of using T-bomber solely for strategic bombers instead of a keeping it for TAC. Thus all(?) nation specific bomber sprites might not work correctly. If you've the time to check the old T-bomber .spr files you can easily identify and rename them. Alternatively you can use some modified scenario files to check these ingame. (btw, you don't need to rename the .bmp files)
