Quest 2, Virtual Desktop, and latency
Hello,

Just curious how well the game functions wirelessly using VD. I learned in some games like Eleven Table Tennis it is recommended by the developer to not use it through steam based on the latency caused this way.

Is this a similar problem in this game?

I tend to agree with Elevens devs on this. VD is cool, but when it comes to games like this, latency could hurt your accuracy and response time. Though I know of some players who play it on VD and enjoy it, I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't have any other choice

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately its likes 2x as much on the oculus store. :/
Thats the big hold up on buying it there vs steam. But if you think it won't run well with my configuration that wouldn't be smart either. Seems like a lot of fun though! I'll be sure to keep an eye on it!

I am running on VD and I am getting some lag when i spin around and look behind me for the ball if i lose track of it. When I look quckly I get some lag. It might be congetsion on my network with multiple devices streaming video etc. I dont think it is my computer I have a Ryzen 7 and 5700XT

Thank you for the input!

I think based on your comments and the developers I will just put it on my Oculus watch list and wait until it has a price comparable to steam. Appreciated!

Actually, I just played for an 1.5 hours and played my first 1.vs 1 game and wow is it creepy cool to play against someone. It is just like they are in your living room. I am smoked. I didn't have nearly any lag when no one was on my wifi network. I started to get lag when family members started to make video calls and steam movies again. So, I would highly recomend getting this game on the Steam BF sale for much cheaper. Unless you have a house full of people on your wifi then pay more and play directly from your headset.

I am forced to run it in VD as I bought it on Steam but now I have a Quest 2 would like to start playing this game again as it really shines in wireeless and a great demo for selling VR :)

I decided to take the plunge with this version using VD because I thought it mad that it was £12.00 on Sale in the Oculus Strore but just £7 on Steam. I thought it played very well but that was only on Solo.
I really dont understand the disparity between Stores. I can only guess Oculus are aiming at the Facebook, just got their first Headset for Christmas, dont shop around crowd.

I would always go for the Oculus Quest version where possible but sod it if I am paying that much in difference

Dont forget you can always go for a refund if it plays bad on your PC/VD combo

I played the demo with VD, no lags, it recieved few patches in the meantime and it gets better with every one of them.
