How to empty residential waste?

My residences keep filling up with waste. I have trucks sitting idle and a level 3 smokestack that's almost empty. The factories get emptied but the residences don't. The 'traffic overlay' shows paths into the residences.

What's the trick to getting waste out of residential districts?

Adjust your work priorities, it sounds like nobody is getting told to Clean. If you shift that up then they will focus more on emptying those buildings.

I've had to shift my cleanup priorities up to 5 (above moving resources and processing) to actually get my residential building consistently emptied, because for some reason it feels like residential buildings are among the lowest priority subtasks of cleanup so unless most of it is getting done consistently, your residences are doomed because they'll never get touched

Thanks for the pointers, this worked for me. I move the cleaning tasks above manufacturing and they get done.

The way things currently work is that Employees will clean or pick things up in the order that they spawned/were created - this means that if a factory has a whole bunch of trash on the floor before it was generated in a residence, they'll clean up the waste in the factory first before moving on to the residence, so it may require a little patience.

We're working on a way to add priorities for Employees to clean up specific buildings!
