Sinkholes are really good as you can pretty much put tier3 turbines on all sides without much worry
That's not the case with crevasses as you can actually bleed xethane dry if you put turbines too densely around crevasses. Definitely watch out for the 'low xethane' warning (its a cloud with an sladh through it) where you might be extracting too much xethane.
Yes that's a bit oversimplified, but it's basically what it comes down to. The Xethan sources produce x amount per minute which spreads out all over the map, and the way to sustain production is to not take in too much in any one spot.
