Also: Keep the tab for spaceport open all the time. There are sometimes frighters with just resources and no population.
Currently there is no way around that as far as i know.
Actually crevices and the like recharge the xethane they have just like the large mineral/xethane nodes that are infinite. They reach very low output, but they do recharge slowly over time.
I feel like my city is sucking up more fuel than the entire map is generating... im forced to keep expanding towards more sinkholes and crevices just to keep up with my cities demand.
Well yeah, like I said. They charge slowly but they are infinite and that is what OPs question was.
But i found out that you can trade influence for 1 of each in the Council Hall so as long as you have your production set up right you basically can have infinite resources.
As far as infinite minerals/isotopes go you don't need to trade influence for infinite of those either. There are very large Nodes of both kinds that when you have a mine set up to gather from them they never run out they only start producing slower.
