Characters Pros and Cons and Frame Data

Hi everyone,

I hope you're getting ready for Joltt - Battle Pillars being released in the next few days! 😊

To help you getting started with the game, here's a quick overview of each character's pros and cons.

Also, here's a link to the game's Frame Data[docs.google.com].

Pros:

Simple to use
Fastest cast time in the game on most projectiles (0.1 second)
Double projectiles can be used to feint or to cancel an opponent projectile
→ A can give you an easy win if your opponent spams horizontal projectiles
Very fast Super Move

Cons

No super projectile
Can struggle to find an opening on characters who can counter consistently (building super might be a good option)

Pros:

Simple to use
Fastest non-super projectile in the game
Bell-shaped projectile can give an easy win if you read a horizontal projectile from your opponent
Changing projectile speed can surprise your opponent
↓B is hard to deal with for Xioko

Cons:

No effective ways to delay the falling part of your jump if you'll land on an enemy projectile

Pros:

Can fly freely
Flying can make some Super Moves whiff completely
Bubbles are a very versatile tool
Use wind to propel the bubble in the wind direction
Shooting into a bubble will transform it into a fast super projectile!

Cons:

Cannot duck
Cannot jump
Moving upwards is slower than jumping
In the Xioko mirror match, the opposing Xioko can stop your bubbles and send them back to you with her wind (but so can you!)

Pros:

Huge range of moves
Best aerial game with the blue flame
Only character that can repel projectiles with the Green flame
The red flame has excellent grounded attacks
Your super is the golden flame!

Cons:

Cannot do anything without equiping a flame on her sword first.
The flame color can make her quite predictable.
No aerial move with the red flame

Pros:

Exceptionnal mobility thanks to the teleports
The only character who can move forward or backward
Super fun and creative to play

Cons:

If you teleport forward or backward, you'll fall if you don't teleport back to the platform in time
Stuff coming out of a portal is random

Pros:

Can absorb enemy projectiles to build up spirit gauges
Has access to a super projectile with X button
Once spirit gauges are charged, he can throw fast super projectiles at any moment

Cons:

No horizontal aerial projectile without a spirit charged
Dependent on spirit gauges being charged to access his most powerful moves

How to play Ell, the explosive fire mage

Hi everyone!

With the release getting closer, I'd like to give you a few tips and information about how to play Ell, the fire mage.

Ell

Overview

Ell is probably the simplest character to play in Joltt - Battle Pillars. She is available in the demo, so feel free to jump on the demo right after reading this. 😊

In a nutshell: Use her powerful feints to lure your enemy and take advantage of the situation.

Special Moves

Ell has 10 special moves in total.

Her basic moves A, B and X are as follow:

A: casts a horizontal projectile

B: casts a diagonal projectile

X: Feints a limited horizontal projectile, then casts a diagonal projectile.

By adding the forward direction to these 3 buttons, you gain access to a different or more powerful version of the special move. Keep in mind that recovery on these moves are much longer than on the simple versions seen above.

→ A: Feint a limited horizontal projectile, then casts a horizontal projectile

→ B: Casts two diagonal projectiles

→ X: Feints a diagonal projectile, then casts a horizontal projectile

She also has access to aerial moves:

(jump) A: Casts an aerial horizontal projectile

(jump) B: Casts an aerial diagonal projectile

(jump) X: Feints an aerial diagonal projectile, then casts an aerial horizontal projectile

Finally, pressing Y when the super gauge is filled will cast her devastating super move!

Strategy

Use Ell's powerful feints to lure your enemy into a bad situation and take advantage of it.

The feints are limited in the distance they will travel, but while they are on screen, they are still true projectiles! This allow you to cancel your opponent's projectile with the feint and gain momentum with the second projectile.

Ell's standard projectiles are also the ones which are cast the quickest in the game. Only 0.1 second preparation time!

If you need to delay the moment you will fall on your pillar while jumping, jump X is golden.

Ell's Super is the fastest projectile in the game! When you have it ready, don't forget to use it!

Joltt - Battle Pillars will take part in Steam Next Fest in October 2025

Hello everyone !

I have some great news to share today regarding Joltt - Battle Pillars!

On Monday October 13th, the game will take part in Steam Next Fest! This is quite a big deal, as a lot of players will (hopefully ^^') play the demo. To make sure everything is ready, I just uploaded a new demo. So if you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to play it and let me know if you encountered any bugs, or if you have any feedback.

Here are the main changes in the new demo:

- Ranked mode is now available to everyone, even when playing the demo.

- The tutorial will be launched when playing the game for the first time.

- Various Joltt - Matchmaking channels have been created on Rablo Games Discord server to help players find matches. A prompt to join the Discord server[discord.gg] has been added while waiting for an opponent.

- Many bugs have been fixed, many small tweaks.

Feel free to try the demo ahead of Steam Next Fest, and please let me know if you stumble across any problem.

1. Will this game only release on Steam? If a game releases on multiple platforms, I'd like to know if any release has everything, but it might be a moot point, here. 2. Does Joltt - Battle Pillars have any promotional or permanently missable content? My go-to example for the former is how Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope had pre-order weapon skins and special DLC that came with figurines of Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach.
