This is a bit of a long reply, but I think it's worth the read:
Have you tried Wine/ Winebottler? It's a free app that lets you open *ALMOST* any Windows application, without having to actually install Windows. It will also let you install apps from CD-ROM.
You can find it here : http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
NOTE: There are at least 2 ways to download the game:
1. Many players suggest installing a Windows version of Steam alongside your Mac version (through Winebottler, OR download from the Steam site itself), and running it with Wine. I tried it, but it still detected I was using Mac, so it refused to download the game.
2. (What I did) Log in from a Windows computer, download the game, go deep into the Program Files(x86) Folder, until I eventually found the .exe (you can also run a search on your computer). Once found, I copied it via USB to my Mac.
If you successfully get this game to run, remember that you can go to the game's main menu by holding fn + f2. Whichever F(x) commands are allowed need to be entered by holding the fn key.
It runs perfectly on my Mac ( 2008), but I don't think the Steam app is able to track my game progress...
Hope this helps.
You shouldn't have bought the game, you should've looked at the system requirements. The game is windows only. Be more careful when buying games next time.
